Thanks for the tips and suggestions! I haven't dabbled with airbrushing yet but thinking of trying it out soon.

Wow, the bending test I figured it was gonna crack and flake right off! when rebirth Batman came out everyone was saying they had to use a hard plastic for the cape because of the purple paint and when I heard that I thought "bullshit", dc direct/collectibles got away with soft rubber 2 tone capes for 2 decades that still look good today!

I've heard of this brand of paint .. Looks like it has a lot of properties customizers look for in a paint. Will you try to see if you are able to get the same results from this brand of paint if you were only using paint brushes? I would love to see if there's a noticeable difference. Great video as always even if was a simple one👍

It’s a self leveling paint, you can brush it on with out leaving brush strokes, I’ll have a video later on that topic

I love your videos, and I love that they even exist in the first place. But with all due respect, I HIGHLY doubt that Marvel Legends, Black Series, DC Multiverse, Mafex, Transformers etc. are painted by hand. If you look at some of these paint apps, you can see a dot-like structure indicating it was “printed” on (I know it’s not literal print, but I’m a layman and that’s what it looks like lol) - you’ll see this if you look at McFarlane figure eyes for example. Often times you’ll see paint perfectly applied, but shifted a little to one side (indicating it wasn’t by hand, but a machine). I don’t know, it just seems like hand painted figures would never be profitable at a $10 price range (for example Sonic the Hedgehog figs).
@InkDropCustoms Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching….you’re correct most figures are machine painted… just like M&M’s have that tiny M printed.

So suppose I used just Vallejo paint without mixing in anything else on a McFarlane figure. Would u need to add any sealers or finishes over it, does it stick and last just fine without it?
@InkDropCustoms Жыл бұрын
It all depends on the plastics used on the figure…. So long as you prep it correctly…. Most paints in the Vallejo brand will hold just fine…. If you’re going to handle the figure you’ll need to seal it… the oils from your hands will eventually break down the paint …. Many times paints will fade if exposed to any sunlight…. So UV sealants are needed… more expensive paints have better pigment and last longer…eventually all paint faded in extreme conditions…. Have fun Thanks for watching

Yeah. I'm still trying to find a replacement for the Testors acrylics paint. How much difference is the Premium Vallejo paint vs the regular Vallejo paint?
@InkDropCustoms2 жыл бұрын
Depends where you buy from … it’s going from $7-$10 per bottle or $35 for a set of 5 on Amazon The big difference is the amount per bottle (2.oz ) and it’s a multi surface paint.
@somarriba3332 жыл бұрын
@@InkDropCustoms I guess I'm asking about the quality of the paint instead of the price. So it's a multi surface paint, like Testors?
@InkDropCustoms2 жыл бұрын
So far as quality…. It’s looks really good.. it’s self leveling, so you can brush it on. Durability, it doesn’t rub off -- but I’ve yet to put it through a few more life test…. Iluminación leave my sample in the window for a few weeks…. Then I’ll toss it around in a bucket with a few items … got see if their statements hold true I’ll keep you posted in another video Thanks again for watching

Great video! Do you do any ventilation or wear a mask? I’m interested in an airbrush but not sure about this aspect thanks!
@InkDropCustoms2 жыл бұрын
I work near a window , I don’t do enough airbrushing to have a ventilation system. I don’t have the space.. I use a mask when I use solvents but it’s few and far between… I do more drybrush than airbrush. Once you have results from airbrush it’s difficult to turn it down… not all projects require an airbrush

So being that this paint has the stuff you mentioned in the end the one ingredient that interested me was the resin. Can you cure this with a uv light being it has a little resin in it. Does it help with paint rub? Seems like most paint I use rubs off even after sealing. Some people use pledge to seal since it’s meant for hardwood floors and constant walking.
@InkDropCustoms2 жыл бұрын
Any paint will rub if there is no room for the paint You’ll need to sand or grind off the surface to make room for any paint and sealant. UV resin if applied too thick can then rub off if there is no clearance You can cure un resin in as thin a layer you need but you’ll still need to sand away surface area for the new paint and sealant

This maybe worth for customs and very highly damaged figures, but personally how do you feel about the factory errors? I like to think my unit is "unique" in a way, and sometimes getting a better painted duplicate to keep sealed or in exhibition (depends on the figure tho).
@InkDropCustoms2 жыл бұрын
To me factor errors are just that , an error.. to me not worth purchasing or purchase for customizing. Factory errors are like figure swapping too me. Unless it truly makes unique and expensive… but I open all my stuff ….
@psp4gamer2 жыл бұрын
@@InkDropCustoms Well i think i didn't explained myself very well. So lets say a batman has little scratches that you didn't see or you can't because the scratches are on the paint on the blind spot of the figure, those kind of errors, or factory damages.
@InkDropCustoms2 жыл бұрын
Those are minimal details to me on a $20 figure … it’s it was a $200 figure oh I just return it… but if all the same then I’ll keep it if I really like otherwise I just return it … but that’s why I no longer buy Hot Toys… too expensive for deterioration of materials and other defects…

@@InkDropCustoms So basically we both could agree that, for a mere mortal without experience painting figures (talking about me), isn't really worth it.... yeah at first was something that was bothering me, but on the other side it was the price, superb quality at a quite affordable price (with its "here and there" issues) with a little risk. Yeah i kept everything open too, but i like to keep a sealed one just in case. I like to have a fresh one in storage tbh.
@InkDropCustoms2 жыл бұрын
I have a few sealed , only because I haven’t had the opportunity to open it I keep the box only to repackage and store the figure …it’s all about enjoying what you buy Thanks again for watching

So they don’t need to be diluted ??
@InkDropCustoms2 жыл бұрын
it depends on the needle you are using in the brush.... larger needles will not need it diluted.... small detail oriented needles will require it to be diluted.... its water based so no special chemicals are require... For use with other paints refer to the manufacturer instructions.
