Marvel select also makes like 4-5 figures per year which makes me think there’s very different licensing agreement than legends.

Marvel Select also includes way more accessories. McFarlane multiverse mega figs also feel a little hollow. I still like this figure.

still, both Marvel Select and Mcfarlane are better than Marvel Legends. Hasbro can't put as much effort in designing figures as these 2 companies.

Kalibak is a character I know enough about, but I don't have a set mental picture of him so this to me is more than good enough for a generic Kalibak. I've settled into the mindset where as long as McFarlane gives me a well detailed 'generic enough' take on a character to where it's clear who it's meant to be, I'll be happy with it. They excel at sculpted intricate detail, whether it be armor, costumes or skin, so I'm okay with them taking a bit of artistic licensing with their DC figures given how basic some of their designs inherently are, to me that's a big part of what earns their price even if they can maybe struggle with proportioning or executing articulation sometimes. I really hope we get a Darkseid soon, in general more Superman villains from them I think they could make look awesome. Brainiac, Metallo and the Parasite especially I think could all look great in McFarlane's style.

In Todd's eyes he can articulate enough to look good in a pose from the front leave it on the shelf and never move it again or turn him around 😂

Mcfarlane figures were made for customizers, they have the sculpt, just need customizers touch of paint.

It’s been quite a bit since we’ve seen a McFarlane Toys figure on the channel. (I believe the last one was Mongul.) While the figure’s sculpt looks aesthetically appealing, the recurring quality control issues (i.e., paint application mishaps) persists. It’s such a shame, too; McFarlane Toys does seem to miss the mark quite often, it seems. Quality control issues notwithstanding, I still dig the sculpt on this one. *Side note: I will always appreciate Anthony‘s reviews; he is such a critically in-depth and honest bloke whilst noting every detail and facet (or lack thereof) that an action figure has to offer. I’ve been collecting Marvel Select for years. I have a lot of them so it’s actually a good thing that their releases are sporadic for me as otherwise I’d run out of room. But noticed during ‘the dark days of Marvel Legends’ that you got more for your money with Select and have just carried on with the 7 inch scale ever since. Their figures aren’t all hits, but then I just don’t buy the ones that I don’t want

What pisses me off is that McFarlane just doesn't seem to care for any of his licenses, they do a good enough job but keep making amateur mistakes. But when you look at his spawn line, it's way better engineered, way better painted, way better sculpted, and with a way better value (with figures actually coming with accessories), I know that's because Todd owns spawn so there's no license cost, but it just shows that they can do better with their other figures

I'll never understand why mcf holds themselves back. They have the new sculpts on pretty much every figure. Textures are always everywhere, the figures feel high quality... but then stupid things like color choice, proportions, joints, likenesses, etc, just completely ruin it. A shame cause they actually try more than ML now but cheap out before the figures can be truly great. Still gonna get this guy and some other releases this year cause, things do seem to be improving... but it needs to be a conscious design and not just inconsistent. Thanks for the review, anthony ✌

Really excellent review, and you hit it on the head how McFarlane's modern releases are so frustratingly "almost good". I just got my copy discounted at $30, so on one hand it's hard to feel too bad, on the other, I struggle to not see the sculpt just stop dead at the elbow joints.

My theory is that there is not an actual department of design/engineering at McFarlane Toys. That they only have some people in charge of the brand, but designs and stuff are made by freelance designers or sculptors with no actual knowledge of toy designing. Hence the lack of standard style, raw articulation and good sculpts with horrible engineering... Just a theory tho

Now that McFarlane did Kalibak I hope he does Heracles. And sells it as such and not Hercules. Yes, in the comics he even had his own title as Hercules Unchained. However, given the fact that Wonder Woman´s background and the how DC Universe as such is Greek mythology he should be called Heracles. I´ve even seen being caled like that in recent comics. That way they can even "distance" themselves from Marvel. Also, in New 52, the Earth 2 relies in Roman mythology wich is great. For instance, that explains why the original Flash wears a hemlet that´s the same from Mercury (he even gets it from him). And, oficially, Diana is a Roman name.

McFarlane weapons seem to have a problem where they're either way too hard and are impossible to use or way to soft. My Shao Kahn's hammer is just so droopy that I can't help but giggle every time I see it.

This why when it comes to Mcfarlane DC Multiverse I buy only selected figures. Still waiting for their re-release the brown jacket masked redhood replaced with proper thighs.Titan Bane is OP and should not be a BAF release for the movie version!!!

Not the worst, but not the best. Passable. I'll wait until it drops in price and I'll get it. To be honest, I really hope they lose the license. The mistakes that they are doing, shouldn't be happening by now. It seems they are more interested in flooding the market with a lot of figures and they don't give a damn of the quality. Once in awhile you may find a pretty decent figure, but a lot of times they are bad.
