The car is scaled down and that is why it is a single seater. The Batwing will also be slightly scaled down. I am more OK with the Batwing being smaller than it will be in the film, but I would have paid more for the Batmobile if they would have made it the full 1:10 scale to match the size of the figure and gave it a passenger seat.

This Batmobile is really for 6" figures. I'll display it next to my Mezco Batman. 89 Batmobile, Batwing, Mezco Ghost Rider, Ramen Hell Charger, Hiss Tank, Valaverse armored vehicle. Overall, it was a great year for 1/12 scale vehicles.

Typically, arms on McFarlane figs are designed to pip off to avoid snapping, like many modern action figures. Not necessarily a QC issue.

First off the emblem on the rims is gold in the movie and the cone at the front is actually silver . Second you are right that they should have put flames out of the back . Last I have pre-ordered one but I'm going up to Target first thing Saturday morning to see if they have anything. I have the NECA figure so it would be nice to have a batmobile for each .

Looks like you have the same problem that they had in the original 1989 Batman movie with the ears of the cowl beign too long lol. They had to actually make a cowl with the shorter ears for the scenes where he is inside the car.

The whole canopy is clear so it’s either painted over the clear, or has a black insert under the clear plastic that’s why it looks grey

Great review. Biggest criticism is the color of the canopy. Im thinking its mis-colored because of the clear plastic. If I right MFT should have made it from the same plastic as the rest of the car and molded the windows with clear plastic.

Their paint apps are bad for these movie figs the Keaton batman has overlapped paint on the cheek & chin area & his symbol looks a bit crooked too, Affleck's batman is the worst offender his face is completely messed up

I have the Bandai, Neca, and Mezco 89 Batmen. You can't bring the legs straight forward on the Mezco, the go diagonal forward. It may fit, but I wouldn't try it, especially with the rubber body and annoying cape.

I’ve heard other ppl say the canopy is a full clear plastic piece that’s painted black, so that may be why it came out gray. Maybe needed another coat that cost too much time & money lol. I’m still fine with it. I got this more for the look & the price, as well as to fit my 6” figures. We shouldn’t have to, but I will probably paint the canopy immediately.

Matching blacks is harder than it sounds especially if its on two different materials. You'll need to lay on a base coat to both the body & canopy to get a consistent starting point and repaint the whole thing.

I don't understand why you all keep. Keep saying 60 or $70 is a steal for this toy. When it's not even screen accurate? It doesn't have 2 seats. Like it does in the movie. The canopy is Gray when it is supposed to be black. The guns don't pop out and it has no lights. Back in the day we would pay 15 or $20. But this is a 40 to $50 price jump for something that is not screen accurate. And in 2023 there is no reason and no excuse for us as fans to not have a batmobile that is screen accurate and with 2 seats. When barbie's been doing it since the eighties

I suspect, and could be wrong, but since this is the "old Batman" the Batmobile has been changed/through a lot....Unless the factory screwed up I'd be surprised the McF would make a mistake like that...although some overseas factories are notorious from sending out an amazing sample to the company and then the actual production piece has been altered to save the factory some dough...and sometimes the actual company doesn't even realize it until it's already on the shelves and they receive a deluge of complaints from fanboys-also...I've seen people bitchin' about the new Batwing w/o recalling that it crashed and was demolished in the first film.

I dunno, the canopy color is the only downside to me. Very odd decision. The rest looks like it'll be stunning on the shelf and the gold bat symbols I believe are accurate to the 89 movie. I think they were changed to silver for Returns.

Anyone saying the canopy is grey because it is clear plastic doesnt understand paint. Black paint is still black regardless of being sprayed on clear plastic. I see the same color on the nose cone, also it was grey in Todds video, he knows it was grey he is an artist. My theory is there will be a re-release with updated colors and/or lights. Unfortunately everything McFarlane releases ends up being a DIY project.

Killing it with the prices? See the Batwing. This Batmobile not only is inaccurate, but it's the type of toy you'd expect to see in stacks at the dollar store. Also, it is NOT in scale with any 7" figure because it is supposed to be a 2-seater.

I don't recommend putting NECA Batman in there. It'll risk just breaking the leg or two off. NECA is very fragile, and can easily break.

Yeah, the Batmobile is a little on the small side for the McFarlane figures. Really disappointed with the color difference of the canopy as well. It's a lot cheaper looking than I thought it would be.

I'm kind of annoyed about the gray canopy. I'm also curious if the headlights and tail lights are painted, or colored plastic parts. If parts, I can see customizers creating replacement lenses that may be in transparent plastic and maybe even putting some LED lighting in there.

Gonna give this a pass. Too small, not in great proportion, and really could've been more detailed, if the price was maybe $20 more. I know many will like it, and fine, don't blame you. I think IF we all beg Todd to redo this, as a prestige version, at proper scale, and a few more extras, that it would still sell like hotcakes, or am I judging that wrong? It's OK, but, personally, I already think Todd has already won against the likes of HASBRO, so that's why I am suggesting that he could take a "risk" and redo this, at a higher price point, to account for more accurate upscaling and details. Would anyone be up for that? I still think it would be a steal. A few lights, turning wheels, more room in the cockpit, mat finish, and the machine guns. Am I the only one that would be OK with going for that, if, say, Todd amended the toyish first version, and released a better version for, I dunno, nearer $90/100?

I am 1000% with you and you said the exact same thing I did. The truth is this thing is just too small for the 7" line. Seeing the BTAS version knowing it seats two and that's a smaller than 6" scale just proves the point. Add the grey canopy and the other things that are just wrong and I can't get it. Especially at $60.00. Spin Master can get a customizers pass because their stuff is so cheap and still looks good. Id rather pay $75.00 for a 2 seater that was to scale. I'm stoked about the bike, but not this. I'm still on the fence about the batwing. It's too expensive and is just a 1 seater but I can excuse it since thr original was a 1 seater and I see it as a moder update of that one seater even though it seats at least 2 in thr movie.

While those expecations would be nice, it would be an even bigger box. Not fit for retail. There's just no perfect option yet out there for 1:12 or 1:10 scale for the 1989 batmobile.

@Roy Not really. It would require some assembly, but I had a vehicle that was 1/10 scale from China and the floorboard was in 2 pieces and the rest of the vehicle was 5 pieces plus the wheels. You snapped the floorboard together. Snapped in the front l, slid in the two doors then the back and popped in thr one piece interior. Took the better part of 8 minutes and came in a box half the size of this batmobile. You also have to understand that for $60.00, people expect the box to be a c we retain size to justify their purchase, where in some countries with really bad shipping cost packaging is crucial.

Overall I feel the bat cycle looks better. Don't get me wrong, it looks really cool and definitely good for the price I feel but I would have liked it more if the bat mobile had a matte finish. I would rather pay a bit more for something that looks more like a display piece. It seems like a gold label version of the bat mobile is in the works so I will wait for that and see. I am sure if it does go up for pre order I will have to jump on it immediately though

I hope I’m not raining on anyone’s parade… but after seeing everybody and their grandma praise Todd and basically worship the ground he walks on for this reveal…. Every complaint I had on first glance was confirmed. And after this review I’m doubling down. The canopy is wrong, the headlights are literally just random pieces of plastic placeholders. The tires, the finish, jeez. For the price yeah it’s cool but after all that hype online? I’m really unimpressed.
