Marc also does this in a stacked method gathering the fibers in the clip with a “stacker” tool, then it’s much like a hair wing. Nice tie!

Thank you, yeah I think I saw the stacked one also. Whatcha think?

Great pattern. I also got a set of those Petitjean clips. Game changer. CDC also a wonderful material. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from Calgary Alberta Canada.

Thanks again, killer pattern. I've been using this one for years. It works when they are on caddis. Try some frogs fanny on the cdc and skate it for a real treat!!!😮

Awesome thanks, I’ll try skating it for sure

I feel like you could have just used the feather like normal to make the same hackle.

Probably, I was just going along with the originator of the fly

Try trimming the body using curved scissors it helps alot
@McFlyAngler10 ай бұрын
Cool thanks I’ll look into getting some. I don’t have curved currently. I will say I think it kinda turned out with the straight. On a curved hook for sure I think the curved scissors would be super helpful

@@McFlyAngler my pleasure I love tying with cdc. If you have a chance to view Petitjean's book CDC it will blow you away.

I love this pattern and am wondering how well this would work with a small amount of peacock hurl added to the head either just behind the wing or in front of it before you whip finish it and then either uv resin or some form of head cement to hold the thread, also what exactly are cdc feathers and how expensive are they?
@McFlyAngler8 ай бұрын
Thanks! Glad you like the pattern, Petejean did come up with a good one for sure. I believe I did use solarez on the head of this fly to secure it. If you want to use traditional head cement then that will work also. As for peacock hurl, I can’t imagine it wouldn’t work. Give it a try! Most new patterns are formed this way, someone has an idea of how to improve a specific fly for their situation and start tying something differently. CDC comes from the rear end of a duck. It’s got oils all over it that are secreted from the duck to help the duck float. They aren’t cheap feathers but, not super expensive either. I’ve got links in the description section to where you can purchase some. Or if you find better deals elsewhere then try those.
