I’ve worked for all of the big 3 of golf stores. Golfsmith, Galaxy and PGA store. I have been repairing clubs for over 30 years. I have seen shoddy work from big box and from small shops. It truly boils down to taking pride in your work. When I repair clubs I am very OCD. Take your time and realize prep work is the most important part. If you don’t prep it right, the repair is not going to be done correctly.

This is probably the worst reshafting job I have ever seen!!! I hope this individual who did this does not call themselves a club repairman!! Your work is excellent!!

When I worked at PGA Tour Superstore doing fittings and customer service/club repair there were a number of people who did club repairs, especially when the main guy was on vacation. I noticed a 6 iron in the repair room with a parallel shaft epoxied in the head without any tip trimming. Fortunately it hadn't been trimmed on the butt end either. When he came in, I let the guy who did it know that it was wrong and showed him what should have been done. He had been on the tour in the past. I was surprised he was doing re-shafting if he didn't even understand parallel shaft tip trimming - how it affects flex and playability. He took it apart tip trimmed it the right amount, re-epoxied it and butt trimmed it to length so the customer got his iron back in the way that played properly. However what the Ebay seller did is even worse - didn't even start with the right shafts.

Thanks for your attention detail Jim. I picked up on your use less epoxy tip and have developed a bench polisher desire after seeing you polishing these, And an “F” wedge .. never seen one of those got to love Ben Hogan. Btw I have a pristine set of beautiful Hogan early seventies round soles that I might shine up if I manage to get the tool.

Jim after all your videos of watched I would like to see you upgrade the shaft to a ping eye 2 which in my opinion I have a wedge and sand wedge and I think they're beautiful with the high toe. I'd like to see you do that with these clubs or a ping zing maybe beryllium.

Great show and content. I really enjoyed your explanation of what went wrong with the clubs, why they weren't up to spec, and your conclusion of fixing them. Great job!!! Question: When you are building a single length set would you just purchase a set of shafts that match the length desired? Example if I wanted a 9 iron length would you buy all 9 iron lengths? How does that work? Great job as always. Cheers

I would use the .370 then trim to the proper flex. Much like on the live stream we just had, The single lengths were individually measured.

Hello Sir! I’m always having issues with my local club fitter with Aligning a putter square during regripping. He always re grips with the putter open! Can you help with a video or quick tips?
@bradreef
@bradreef 3 жыл бұрын
if you have an air compressor you might be able to use the compressor to square the grip. otherwise it is messy trying to move a shaft after it is dried. you can inject solution but that is hit an miss.

does anyone use the PETRONIO’S #8 RUBBER CEMENT to install grips(instead of the conventional way with solvent and sticky tape)- it allows you to just blow the grip off and re use the grip anytime you want. Its handy especially when/ if you wanna shorten or add length without having to just cut the grip off and install a new grip every time. I am constantly tinkering with length/swing weight so I have some grips I've taken off and put back on 6-7 times with no problems. Its really simple instead of sticky tape you use just plain masking tape-the glue bonds to the tape after a few minutes. As far as re-using a grip you have to use something other than a Lamkin grip- most of those will still stretch/blow up(with the air hose) and have to be discarded. I use golf pride and super soft-no problems installing and re installing. It only takes about 30-50 lbs of pressure to blow the grip off (when installed via the cement) and I've never had a grip break lose from the glue during play. Just search for it online-a place here in Memphis sells it by the gallon. A gallon should last a few dozen set builds at least.

Im about to reshaft the same set with KBS Tour 90 I've been fitted for, shall i need to add extra weight to the tip? Originally this irons came with the so called Apex 3 which as fa as I know were Royal Precission 115 grames each
@McGolf
@McGolf 3 жыл бұрын
If you've been fitted to them then you should not need to tip weight them until the fitting choose that

@@McGolf Being fitted for a particular shaft ONLY means the shaft and shaft weight is correct for that golfers swing. The clubs need to be Swingweighted to achieve the correct weight for the completed club. Also wedges are generally Swingweighted heavier and 5-4-3 irons are Swingweighted lighter. Proper Swingweighting is an art!
@McGolf
@McGolf 3 жыл бұрын
@@briansgolfworks4991 swingweighting is important for consistency to be sure but being fit to a particular swingweight it not a drop dead requirement. We use it because it a standard parameter we can all understand and one of the first parameters we could measure. I do agree a proper fitting would narrow down the rest of the golfers needs

Respectfully i couldn't disagree more. Based on the customers strength and height Swing Weight is a VERY important factor in building clubs. Based on these factors the SW can range from C9 to D3. I also offer MOI weighting which is my preferred method- its an upcharge but provides the most accurate results.. When I build a set I only build an 8 iron. The customer plays that club in order to evaluate the setup before the rest of the set is completed.
