Never seen a grip removal tool like that. Very effective! Great vid!

I had a similar situation (low swing weight due to using a shorter than standard iron length and lighter graphite shaft). Because of budgetary considerations, I opted to go with 20 grams lighter grips (instead of a rebuild). It worked; however, now my grips options are very limited.

I also had an issue with PXG. Had them build my irons -.5” and 2* flat and 1.5* weak. What I received were 100% standard irons. They even called both places I had the irons measured at and said they didn’t know what they were looking at. Never again PXG…Never.

The shaft is 60 gram regular. By adding 1/2" length did they also make the shaft more flexible? Seems they created a shaft problem by bandaging SW. Thanks for the sharing!
@whocares39862 жыл бұрын
PXG goes 5/8ths of an inch difference in length in the longer irons. That may be why the 6 iron was so light. I know they go 5/8ths in the 4 and 5 but not sure if that starts at 5 or 6.

Hey Jim and Robin, Happy Easter. You would check for old epoxy inside the tip area -yes?

Hello Jim/Robin happy easter. Does a tip weight that long affect the tips flex, and do you have to drill some out of the shaft to get it to fit?

Great Job 👏 on that set. Learned something new today. Swing weight = .07 ounce or 2 grams?

Does PXG have 2 different head weights? Maybe they mixed the wrong 6 iron head weight with the rest of them.

Have your ever reviewed the Maltby KE4 Tour TC Hybrid.I'm looking to get the # 4 with the Mitsubishi Tensei Blue Graphite stiff.Just wanted your thoughts on the head.Thanks
@mikereling60452 жыл бұрын
I've been building and using Maltby clubs for years. The KE4 Tour TC Hybrids are honest to God rocket launchers. Once you start using Maltby products, all your OEM clubs will slowly be finding the garbage bin, (where this PXG crap should have gone in the first place).

Is adding 10 grams to an iron head, excessive/recommended if needed to match swingweight with the rest of the set?

Hi Jim, hope you are well, what do you think is more important? Swing weight or total weight? This could maybe be a video discussion 😆

Is this the first PXG iron without removable head weights ?
@ianshepherd64762 жыл бұрын
You have to tip it for flex right since you are adding weight? It should play softer with more weight in the head. So length off the top end possibly?
@McGolf2 жыл бұрын
I did tip them to get the flex
@mikepxg64062 жыл бұрын
Just checked PXG standard spec for these irons. 6 iron should be 36 1/8 inch. so yours not over length.

Does adding weight to the hosel create a draw bias? Don’t manufacturers add weight in the portal, if available or use weighted screws (PXG) or use B grade heads to get to the desired swing weight? Maybe a tip for the buyer. Don’t buy the cheapest PXG head. A set of Gen 3 heads same shaft $200 more save money not rebuilding a set
@mikepxg64062 жыл бұрын
Manufacturers don’t use “B grade” heads. They have heads in light standard and heavier and pick according to the desired build. If you search on youtube you can find a video of custom builds at titleist factory where this happens every time a set is made.
@eddietrich62572 жыл бұрын

there is no such thing as light standard, a head is within specification plus or minus, if not it is sorted by weight referred to as a B head and I just spoke with my PXG field rep who knew exactly what this meant

I’m not a fan of adding much weight to the tip or head as the weight balance will feel odd. As you well know, heavier shafts that still play about the same flex are available and that is what i would do for myself. I know you had your marching orders from the customer….

Nothing personal...but...I would think the problem with these clubs needs to be solved by PXG!! If they were the people building the clubs in the first place. They missed the specs asked for by the customer and should have fixed them. This video really sends a very negative message about PXG clubs.
