But I DO have to say, in Snape's defense, he was protecting three students whom he didn't particularly like and who didn't like him all that much either even though he was scared as hell of Remus due to the fact that Sirius tried to get him killed by Remus. You even notice that Hermione is even cowering into him at this point. So hats off to Severus Snape for this.
