I always wondered what it looked like on the other side the those trees.... Love to see an Ariel view of the green houses on hwy 77.

Hi user-gj6fc5en7c. I did shoot footage of greenhouses last year in Leamington. I'll see if I can find it and put together a short video for you. Hope your patient, it'll be a while as I'm working on other projects, too. :)

Great flying and background Bob! For those wondering the quarry company owns the land on the East side of Howard for future expansion. It looks like that time has come. Going back and forth to the new expansion is safer through the tunnel allowing access for machines without disrupting traffic.

Hey, buddy! Appreciate you pointing that out, I should have thought to put that in, but hey. Thanks so much for pointing out the tunnel to me in the first place. It was fun to fly together.

I enjoyed the video but, I missed why the tunnel is needed. Restoring the road is obvious. The building process is unique. But, where is the tunnel going? Have the farms been purchased to allow for the expansion of the quarry? Is the plan to create better access for trucks picking up products? Somehow I missed the reason.

The reason for the tunnel and where it will take you was not explained at all. I'm thoroughly lost and confused. What's the end result of all of this???
@bobjonesrealtor77564 ай бұрын
Hi Robert. Sorry for not having that information in the video. My bad. They own 265 acres there and some other property in the vicinity. I have no inside information on what or when, why or if they are going to start excavating. I should have included the company owned property there. I'll post something in the community coments. I will be doing an update in a few weeks and maybe I can have more information then.

Walker Aggregates owns all the property east of Howard as well. So I'm assuming the plan is to strip the overburden and to start utilizing the underlying materials , expanding the operations.... Of course, crossing back and forth over Howard Ave with heavy equipment would be unreasonable , thus, the tunnel.

I believe a similar tunnel was built at a quarry in Vineland. Just to get to the other side, kinda like the chicken. 😉

yup, chickens need limestone too* .. .. just like all developing nations of the world. I just hope all the product isn't completely exported AND WE use some to finally make that much talked about (35+ years) Windsor to Quebec City high-speed elevated rail system. * Google - why does chickens eat gravel?

Is Walker planning on turning this into a mega dump once quarry operation ends like they have done in the Niagara region?
@bobjonesrealtor77563 ай бұрын
Hi Barry. Walker has a number of waste facilities created form landfills. From what I've read Walker Aggregates is known for managing natural aggregate resources and has a history of land rehabilitation, such as turning a quarry into a vineyard. Digging a bit further. Walker is into resource recovery. Recycling waste into resueable products. That said I couldn't find anything about what their plans are for the Howard quarry once they have finished mining. Waste is a hugh problem worldwide. If Walker was digging big holes just to dump garbage in and forget it is one thing, however they are recovering usuable products from the waste including energy. Walker’s landfill gas supplied as renewable fuel to a neighbouring GM Propulsion Plant makes GM’s St. Catharines facility its greenest propulsion plant globally. Kinda impressive in my opinion. Anyway that's what I found in a quick study of Walker Industries. On the surface they seem to be a very responsible company. Taking a hard look, who knows. I'm not affilated with any of the companies or projects I record, so I try to be as objective in what I post. Hope this helps! Thanks for the comment and information. I learned something today. :)

There's another hidden tunnel in Essex County that goes right under a heavily traveled roadway that most don't know is there. Any guesses.

@bobjonesrealtor77564 ай бұрын
Hi Mark. To get to the other side of the road. Unlike the chicken that might meet it's demise to traffic walking across the road, workers, equiptment and supplies can travel under the road. The tunnel makes it safer and more efficient to mine the property on the other side of Howard.⬅⛏➡👍
