McGuffey Fifth Reader Step by Step

Here is the fourth in a series of going over the McGuffey's readers lesson by lesson; this time it is the revised fifth reader. I am creating this for moms who are often times too busy to pre-read the lessons, or who want to become more familiar with the lessons in order to better help their children. I am hoping each installment will include three or more lessons in the different books (I am only covering the original second reader and the 4th and 5th revised readers).

Hey thank you! 😀 So, how do we do the poem lessons...? I had my daughter read the poem, then choose 2-3 vocabulary words to write her own sentence for each word. She seems to struggle with making sentences from the vocabulary words so I dropped down to two or three words. I've been thinking... maybe we need to go to the fourth book instead??

So you do the original mcguffeys up to 3 and then the revised ones?

Actually, I only use the originals through the second reader, which covers two years, then go to the 4th revised reader.
