The difference is Clarkson takes great pride and satisfaction out of developing the assistants who work under him. He (reportedly) gives them a lot of responsibility and autonomy. You can't say the same about Mick

What a lot of tosh from Eddie. That's the trouble with him hosting this program - he hogs the time to justify one bad move of his after another. The Buckley handover was madness. Mick was seriously successful, was at the top of his game, and expressed no desire or need to step down, regardless of Eddie's demeaning commentary on his mental health. That's just what he did with Lumumba - invalidated his position by casting him as being psychologically compromised. How dare he? But that's Eddie.

@@gary1201I don't believe that for a second. His public statements at the time, his demeanour all indicated that he was really angry about it. And his views expressed in this clip are a less than subtle shot at Eddie. It was an idiotic decision that probably cost them a flag in his final year given that he couldn't possibly have been on the top of his game having that on his mind. He could easily have created a legendary run of successes in subsequent years too. He was an ongoing successful coach. Why on earth would you move him on - to hold on to an untested favourite son? Just absurd.
