No separate preamplifier unit used. 3.5mm headphone out of laptop to RCA L&R input of MC240.

the laptop is conected to what?it´s a weak source of sound compared to any hi-fi component ,in english i can´t explain it but computer are not hi-fi sources it as a diferent specifications ,even a cassette deck and doesn´t need to be very expensive or less than 500€ in the 90´s would project a incredible better sound i use a regular deck to increase the sound quality on the input of the amplifier, a 1979 one, and makes the laptop sound like any source deck, normally some who don´t know this, normally they burn the amplifier to the point of caughting fire inside, i have some 70´s tannoys that seem like this with a bigger speaker and lot´s of positive terminals in the back to diferent equalization curves, they do project a great sound witha spec.-1 and 2 from pioneer, 76 bought

@@2ChannelAudio it will sound much better i mean with more soul in it with an Italian tube amp. Synthesis Roma 510AC 80 Watt, Mcintosh is not what is used to be 40 y ago!! cheers
