the difference is that there wasnt a call out but it was a "Taunt" by the whole group of Eastern dancers (Choreographed at that.) the same Move that SU commonly does.

Big shout out to Eastern High for not only tuning there instruments and giving the arrangements justice, but the dance team is amazing. They showed REAL class and conducted themselves like ladies. McKinley got A LOT of growing up to do.

Mck pantherettes are great and very energetic. I just love them and live to watch them slay. even though semaya got in the other girl face, I'm pretty sure there were no rules presented to the dancers saying what they can and cannot do.🤔 So with that being said a battle is a battle and mck pantherettes are not to play with and underestimated😉 #foreverrette💙

Eastern HS Lady Gems dancers started an all out #CIVIL #WAR with MHS Pantherettes dancers, at 23:50, with that finger pointing and battle song callout, HOWEVER after watching this battle once again, I can honestly say MHS Pantherettes ATE them EHS Lady Gems UP! Man, this was so good and CATTY, that I had to come back and watch it again 4 years later, LOL! MHS Pantherettes won the dance battle, but EHS band definitely won the band battle. They sound absolutely incredible here. I still can't get over how good well balanced Eastern HS band sounds. I mean they sound absolutely incredible and their song selection was EVERYTHING! I just love that song they're playing at 29:34. Eastern HS Director THE TRUTH FR! What an #EPIC #BATTLE!

EpicKvng yassss. I'm with you 💯. I feel the same way. Yes Eastern had a lot flips and hand stands but this is a dance battle not 🤸‍♂️ gymnastics. They get the medal for gymnastics but the pantherettes got the Gold in dance. Extreme dance is all MCKP baby. They were clean, sassy, and 💯CLASSY. I love the captain. She was all in their face. Throwing some serious counts. All we got from eastern was a hand stand and the coaches gut. Lol.

I like McK too, but I have to give Lady Gems the W, even though I don't like the way their coach does too much a lot of times. I saw them at another battle in NYC and their team got on my nerves, but I'll give credit where it's due. Babyyyyy they had Semaya ready to FIGHT! All the Pantherettes was shook and bothered! I fell out on Semaya's "This ain't what you want!" 😂 But real talk, the Gems handled that well because that honestly could've easily started a fight with Semaya's antics. Battle yes, but there is a line for a reason. McK was more refined and had that Doll glam though. McK band was no match for Eastern's. They were damn near perfect. Good battle!

Yes eastern dancers had great flips and such things, but McKinley showed up and showed out. We clearly know that the band is off key at times but it takes courage to dance to that. At the end of the day Pantherettes handled their own! Job well done 😘.

I love McKinley band but this is the second time where their dancing doll captain has lost her cool against another high school dance team. The first time was at belaire botb and now this one. I feel like her coaches need to sit her down and have a talk with her because all that bucking and smack talk is not necessary. There is always gonna be someone better than u and u can't always want to start a fight just because of that u just have to accept they are better than u and work harder so u can be better next time.

I'm going to be very honest, McKinley high has energy and technique. Eastern high has the same thing energy and maybe a tad bit more technical. But at the end of the day they both were good teams two DIFFERENT styles of dances. They all have one thing they have a passion for dancing. Remind you they are the best of the best and both are a high school team on a level no one could touch. Please y'all negative comments to yourself the comment section was made for comments not to tear down these BEAUTIFUL BLACK YOUNG AND TALENT SMART LADIES. Keep in mind these girls along with the band give up a lot of there time and sacrifice a lot too. Yes what happened during the call out may have been disrespectful. But we weren't there afterwards hell they probably hugged it out after the battle both these are unstoppable and no one is on theses girls are bands level.

both teams did great. but if she was to do a vertical split it should be by her ear if not then dont do it at all.. her knee was bent plus her toes wasnt pointed and she a struggling to hold it. the girls in blue are very talented. and a dance battle should not consist of just showcasing one strength. she should have been throwing those counts back at her just a fierce if not more. hell one on one would be neat to see as well.. also wish the girls in blue did more to showcase technique but none the less both are great. i love both of these teams tho. which team is which ?

Let's Keep It real... it's a battle! Things get heated sometimes and that's okay long as it doesn't turn physical! Me being from D.C. and being an Alum Lady Gem also attending Alabama State I see the difference in culture! We carry ourselves differently! swac and meac have two different styles of dance so people's preference is going to be different. It's a battle who's to say what you can and can't incorporate in a battle wether it be flips, hair and costume change, or what.. if you got it flaunt it. Lady gems ATE and all the excuses everybody making up are really to diminish what they left on the floor! I mean it's clear to me who to the W.. but both teams did amazing! don't get mad cause you met your match.. do your research and try again next time.. if there ever is a next time because Bwmm don't play. #ForeverGem

Dance prod. Dance prod. There is more to life than southern. Step outside the box. Eastern is in D.C. And the only song they play that's even close to Howard university is knights by Night. They can give you SU, JSU, Tenn state and Nsu at any given time . At the end of the day MCk showed no variety in music. When your battling a "unknown" you show them alil bit of everything. O yea we up here don't always open with something musical, the last some gym battles at ehs was with rap songs but they still had a round with something challenging.

Mck got this one. The reason being is because Eastern girls had an opportunity of being entertaining but constant change of outfits and the messy dancing really made it uneasy to watch them. They had loads of energy but as it seems they haven't learn how to control it yet. The Pantherettes however had elegance and control in their dancing, although I can't say the same in their sportsmanship. Eastern was leaning a little too close to being ghetto. If I can give any tip to Eastern I would tell them that Consistency is Key, and once you learn how to master it you'll be set.

It sounds like there were two different recorders for each high school. The first band the video was clear and the sound was great. The second group, the sound was muffled and the quality of the video was not great. The first band sounded great and in tune and the dancers looked like some had some classical dance training.

Percussion of MCK causes recordings to be muffled as they are playing to loud. Def not playing to the nature of the Venue.

Dave's TV and this isn't a "bring it on" competition, it's a marching band gym battle. When a team throws a dance feature at you, you respond with a dance feature, not 8 counts. And btw flips etc are all aspects of dancing to. From JSU to A & T all incorporate flips and what not in their shows

I remember battling Eastern and Ballou while in DC with LLI back in the mid 2000s, and I must say that Eastern's DEFINITELY stepped its game up! Not sure what's even going on with McKinley's tone and execution. Is Frank Williams still directing the band? Nevertheless, McK, y'all are good, but Eastern TOOK THE CAKE ON THIS ONE!

whew that was a heck of a year for EHS , and that not in a good way lol... alot of Admin problems. they came along way. this was the best year for them so far.. Yes MCK needs work on tone, let alone leave the SU style arrangements alone.

Can I say it was a tie overall? MCK dancers are VERY precise but that band, ugh. It makes the overall appeal weak when battling. It's a collective effort that if not excuted you'll be lacking. So the Lady Gems, although not always in sync and a little off at times, was able to hold their own and make some hard hits during their performance because Eastern's Band was A1 100% which allowed the dancers to go ham and got the Pantheretts shook....I mean why else feel the need to get THAT close and prove yourself? If that team was as off as they were and had a weak band weak as MCK's they wouldn't have ever needed to leave a seated position lol. I mean they played REGULATE like they wrote it for God's sake and they SMASHED that selection. Even I felt disrespected 😩😂

being that these are two different teams with two different styles that come from two different places i think they both held it down. the jewels need to work on their class naming calling isn't necessary and the p-rettes did great in my opinion semaya shouldn't fuss back with the other team you don't come to talk you came to dance. Both teams did great in their own style, just need to remain classy at all times.

Down south we battle and Dance I mean it's like the eastern girl kept avoiding a battle and wanted to just flip... like ok girl you can flip... DANCE!!!! Lol I feel like if golden delight and the dolls were to battle this is exactly how it would be golden delight would try to outshine the dolls by doing all 150 wardrobe changes and have a couple girls get on the floor and flip lol just the most. But again I guess it's just preference and who u like.

They're a competitive winning dance team that performs nationwide in adjudicated competitions. What they did is allowed and encouraged especially when doing themed shows which most competitions require. Get your girls from out the small town and see what the other elite groups are doing. They'll be much better for it.

louisianaboi08 was it just me or did the eastern captain seem to be having a problem with her left leg. Or maybe she was just nervous. Cause it seemed like she couldn't control that left leg at times. But they were good. They were some really strong athletic girls. I mean it's a good thing they didn't get physical because the pantherettes are small and adorable girls. But eastern girls were all strong 💪. Great dance battle. But if it was a physical battle it would've been unfair. Lol. It would've been like heavy weights battling the lite weights.

I still don't know why Pantherettes had to get in get into it with them anyways cause they're very sloppy, unfit, and they do chair dances calling it cute. If you know you're already the better team, you don't need to hop in anybodies face. But in other words, the other school gives me stingette vibes while McK. reminds me of the Dolls.

Not really You need to get out more. Mckinley girls didnt have any technique just stand counts. Eastern was way more athletic than Mckinley and had a better dance feature. But thats cool gotta respect someone's opinion. But the unfit part was uncalled for. When I know the Eastern Gems. Unfit girls cant do handstands and flips.
