Alternate between the Peak Design EDC 30 and the Wandrd PRVK 31l both have pluses but neither do it all. I with the Wandrd had two side pockets and magnetized straps, wish the PD had a roll-top…

@SamuelJamesVideos2 жыл бұрын
Thank you dude I appreciate it. I have the DJI Ronin SC2 which I actually did a full review on if you're interested. It can be found here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWqZpHx5f7ONmKc It's got the great feature of folding in half so you can fit it pretty much in a hoodie pocket if you needed to. That was the main allure to it since sony cameras don't weigh all that much I didn't need a crazy huge gimbal to get the job done

@joshualatendresse2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the thorough review Samuel! Besides the Peak Design, I think a third contender with a similar footprint/design intent would definitely be the Lowepro ProTactic BP 450 AW II. At $200, it has a lot of the features that you thought were missing from the PM x Nomatic backpack. (comes standard with tons of dividers, gear straps, and is literally covered in durable mounting points). It also has a stand-up/flat bottom, gear loft, and has an integrated rain cover hidden into the bottom. Definitely more "tacticool" but that might be a benefit that it doesn't scream "expensive camera gear inside".
@SamuelJamesVideos2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like an interesting buy, I might have to check that out

I’ve got the 1st version of the ProTactic 450. It’s a solid bag for sure. I have the Peter McKinnon travel bag and have the new one in order with most of the extras. The ProTactic is great, however I do prefer the PM/Nomatic v1. I may try the ProTactic again before I decide if I want to keep it.

Hey Samuel, love your vids came from the peak design one that you did first! Enjoy that you go through personal experiences with it with the pros and cons for multiple situations as well. Just curious, on the off chances you'd bring hoodies/pencil cases/notebooks around, where would they go in this bag?
@SamuelJamesVideos2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching I'm glad you enjoyed it! In this bag unless you were using the cube system and left some space in the bottom portion I would say it's not very well suited for carrying clothing if you're also filling it with gear. If I go somewhere overnight I usually bring this bag and my peak design and fill the PD with clothes and the Nomatic with camera stuff
@iAdrian19972 жыл бұрын

Wow, Samuel...Thanks for the "Premium" review of this Premium Camera Backpack! I too, have the 25L Camera Backpack, and while I agree with everything you stated, I feel that 2 improvements would have made this a Perfect bag for my style of landscape, wildlife and product photography, i.e., at least one side access port, and load lifters for the awesome straps. I feel tha tthe bag could sit just a bit higher on my back when fully loaded. Otherwise, I agree that it's super comfortable and high-quality!

Samuel, I’m looking for a rugged, durable backpack that could withstand being sat on or stomped and my equipment still survive, should I be looking at this bag, or should I be taking more of a pelican route?
@SamuelJamesVideos2 жыл бұрын
That is a super great question. In my opinion - if you're going for ultra rugged, then you're going to want a Pelican or something like it. Apache by Harbor Freight is a wonderful option at a fraction of the cost. Pelican style cases are considerably more cumbersome and harder to transport/work with in run and gun situations though so be aware of that. But to answer your question it's basically if you want durable go pelican if you want mobile go Nomatic or some sort of camera backpack/roller bag
@darrelllovitt87532 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the info, yeh I saw those Apache cases on freight harbor and those appear to be a great deal, I may go ahead and get one of those, I’ve been using a Lowepro for over a decade but I just find myself traveling sometimes and I’m super cautious about my equipment getting damaged, I may just get both then haha

Love your videos. I too bought the McKinnon bag, and ultimately it's not for me. I can't get my gripped Canon R5 with an attached lens and 2 other lenses in it. I also can't stand lenses up on their ends... lenses like a 15-35 or 24-70. The bag is simply not deep enough. Let me know if you want a backup bag. Mine still has the tags on.

@@SamuelJamesVideos The new one that I waited a year to get that I was hoping to take on my trip to the Middle East last week. I bought it with the two small cubes. I reached out to Nomatic to try and urgently buy a large camera cube and dividers and of course they had none available and had no eta. I looked yesterday, they are for sale. Freaking annoying. I had to scramble at the last minute and wound up with the Peak 30l. It was decent but could be better. Wondering whether I should try the Prvke 31/41 or the Shimoda Explore v2. Do you have or have you used either?

VERY DISAPPOINTED. I received the backpack in April and discovered a defect. I've been trying to work with Nomatic Team support since. They provided a UPS label to return the defective unit and then have gone completely silent. So they got my money and I got junk. This has soured me on the entire Nomatic line. It's complete rubbish that this has taken 3+ moths to resolve.

I can imagine Peter McKinnon putting on a wetsuit and swimming gear and swimming out to the cargo ship and personally sabotaging the shipments for the camera bags. Maybe drill a hole in the side of the ship so that all of the cargo sinks and then swimming back on land and releasing a video saying he has no idea what happened.
