To be fair, I think Porsche is probably the worst about it. They at least usually have the model on the rear but they tend to blend together especially for the everyday person maybe outside of the track focused cars like the GT3/2RS which look wild. They are the epitome of, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” design but it works really well for them and their reliability is basically unmatched.

@@CarsLifeYT IMO Porsche 911 is a masterclass in exactly how to do product management and marketing. The model family has multiple upgrade progressions from base through to gt3 or turbo… and so many cool options for customization that you end up painfully selecting everything from model variant, colors, wheels, PDK or manual the buyer is always left thinking “when I get the next 911, I’ll go for the GTS or Turbo or gt3 with PTS with this or that option…” But they all are still unified under the single iconic 911 brand.

Still nothing beats the OG. As a kid of 92, the F1 was the uncontested god of road cars for the majority of my formative years. So yeah, McLaren F1, I count that as the first hyper car ever, and will forever remain my favorite. And that 3 seater, driver in middle design is such an absolute statement. Too bad the Speedtail returning to that unique setup is just too wacky for me. And excuse me, ultra aero, high-tech cameras this or that, conventional rear-view mirrors are a MUST. At least have the inside top corner of the front window mirrors the F1 had... you can sneak away the outside ones with smaller, less air-stopping cameras. So when it comes to modern overdesigned exclusive McLarens, I'd prefer the Sabre to the Speedtail. It's an amazing special face-lift, like a sci-fi combat armor for the Senna. Similar to what the Divo did to the Chiron... except I much prefer McLaren's history and design language compared to Bugatti. As of the 'common' McLaren: The 570s is the real one for me. That's where they hit their stride, it just screams McLaren supercar. The earlier ones while not bad, look a bit shy. After the P1 boldly declared the return of the king, it seemed like they don't want to stand out that much with their entry level supercars and played it safe. The 570s is what takes the complete P1 setup and brings it down to Earth with a more restrained yet almost as iconic design thus becoming the definitive everyday McLaren. Special shout out to the GT as the new synergy. Those headlights are subtle gold. A perfect fusion of the P1-570s swoosh and the Senna-720s aggressive open design. Sharp, fierce but elegant. And my ultimate dream car is a concept that doesn't even exist yet. But I'd call it a McLaren F5. Basicly an F1 successor with the target concept of the Koenigsegg Gemera. So a driver in center 5 seater family hypercar, preferably hybrid. Front is like the Mercedes AMG One, with McLaren GT headlights. Honestly the AMG One's front profile is much more of a modern reimagining of the F1 than the actual McLarens, they went way too extra with the P1 headlight curves, but heyy off to the future we blast off! But yeah AMG One is what if the F1 and the CLK GTR had a baby with present day tech XD So yeah, modern day F1 nose, think bit of AMG one aside modern McLarens, and that mode-switch active aero over the front wheels. 5 seater design with driver front and center... the classic inside front corner rear-view mirrors and the closable by hand from driver seat front doors. With tiny gull-wing doors for the back seats. Crazy idea, but I just love the F1 and Koenigsegg's madlad idea of building a hypercar with seat capacity matching a regular family sedan.

I love the 765, seen a few Spyders in person and they’re crazy. I did touch upon the 675, but it was only very briefly at around the 4:40 mark. Didn’t go much further beyond that as the body is relatively similar to the 650S barring the difference at the rear.

I came back to diecast cars a few weeks ago and I'm focusing on getting diecast McLarens, I got a diecast 1/24 scale Cobalt 720S and Matchbox Lime Green 720S convertible. I got the Matchbox one because I saw it as I was leaving the isle and just knew it was a McLaren from its shape. I also saw a large amount of diecast Lamborghinis, but nothing is better then a McLaren. Any ideas on what model I should try and get next?

I’m jealous, I actually haven’t seen any of those in person. Any McLaren is a pretty rare sight where I’m from. I saw a 765LT drive by me last year and that was probably the rarest of the bunch I’ve seen in person, sounded and looked crazy. Admittedly I’ve changed my opinion of the styling on those cars, I think they look insane in person.

@@Marcus15005 For street driving and affordability I’d go with a 570GT/S or a 720S. You’re gonna have pretty solid ride quality with both (perhaps slightly more fine-tuned in the 720) and neither are built with the track as the focus (like the LT variants). The track-focused cars are going to be a lot more rough to drive and are stripped of some comfort and storage, although there’s no doubt they’re much more aggressive looking and intimidating in person.

i like nfs hot persuit 2010 and as such nothing beats the nostalgia i have over the meclaren mp4- 12c. i just love those backlights. they are so aggressive and cool. BUT i do like the 650 since it just looks like a modern redesign of the mp4 so its a close second for me. its such a shame that newer nfs games dont atleast have the 650s or 675LT because i dont like the 570s.

Great idea! I have a few videos for Porsche, but none that actually really go over any subtle differences. I think the many Porsche models in general are much harder to distinguish as Porsche likes to stick to a very constant design language. I’ll put that on the list of upcoming videos, for sure. There’s a lot to like about the MP4-12C. It has a fantastic side profile and looks great from the front, but I feel the rear of it is quite dated compared to more modern models. That’s just my opinion, though and a reason I actually don’t like the style of the 650S quite as much as the 570/600. That being said, the 675LT has just enough changes to the rear that I feel it’s the best in design from the MP4’s body.

Whoever is in charge of product planning and styling, as well as naming, has absolutely lost their mind. Not only do the cars look the same, they have the same engines and transmissions and the same confusing alphanumeric naming system. Even more ridiculous, a lot of these cars are marketed with the selling point that they're rare or limited edition. They aren't rare! They're all the same!

Not a lot know the differences. Especially if there’s not that many in the area. I’ve got a 570GT and not many know what it is, one thought it was a 650S. Some people think it’s a Lambo or a Ferrari. Surprisingly, it’s the younger kids that seem to know what it is. There’s not that many McLarens in my state. It’s an interesting experience. Agreed though, love the look of the 600LT. Might upgrade to one in the not so distant future, but we’ll see. I like the comfort of mine and don’t really want to track, so might actually be better off in a 720.

I always thought the McLaren GT looked like the Ford GT and the Lamborghini Huracan cross-bred... and then Chevy blatantly plagiarized the design language for the C8 Corvette... still a great looking vehicle though.

Honestly wouldn’t surprise me, I end up getting some comments in my review folder that don’t end up showing at all and I’m not sure why they’re there lol. That’s my main dislike of the GT though, it’s very C8-looking from the front when you see one. Thanks, appreciate the support! I do like the GT, but to me it’s a bit stylistically underwhelming compared to the older 570GT. When I bought my 570GT, they offered me a brand new GT at around the same price. I don’t think they sold quite as well. There seems to be a push at McLaren to move these vehicles.

I think that’s where the 720 & 765LT come in. These visually don’t look like previous McLaren models (from an aerial pov they have a similar shape, though). That being said, that difference can be displeasing to some. I however, have grown quite fond of them and think they’re great looking cars. They’re a very stand out style from anything on the road today.
