@@71Venusin 2019 rookie Lando beat Sainz in qualifying head to head and finished 11th in the standings with a midfield McLaren. Oscar was given a top car after Austria and he finished 9th in the standings with a car that could compete for podiums and sometimes wins. Also he had 6 Sprint races to score more points. The most impressive rookies since Lewis are either Max, Charles, Lando and Albon, Oscar is up there too, but don’t overrate him because he won a pathetic Sprint and got two podiums.

They were on the screamingmeals podcast a few months ago. There are like some F2 drivers that hold that podcast and Pitstop Podcast were on it and they just violated Juan Manuel Correa and said that they didn't care about anyones racing history and their strugles or even learning about F1. They started this podcast just to get famous. they are not the people you think they are unfortunately
@ChoppingSpree89 Жыл бұрын
@papayakryddan5190 I have to say, I watched the screaming meals podcast after your comment, and this was a gross misrepresentation of the guys from Pitstop pod as well as what was discussed. Firstly they never once said they didn’t care about F1 or any of its history. They’ve been very honest from the beginning that they only gained interest after watching drive to survive so they’re just learning as they go with the podcast. Secondly, they never violated JMC, they simply just didn’t know who he was (To my earlier point of them still very knew to the sport and they even said earlier in the podcast that they just began to watch F2 the weekend before they sat down for that podcast). I think you’re taking their lack of knowledge (because they’re new, like many others) as disrespect but I don’t think you could be farther from the truth. They mentioned in that pod that they absolutely love the sport and are fascinated by all the things they’ve learnt while interviewing drivers and engineers and sky sports personalities and also remained very genuine and fun throughout that podcast as I’ve seen on theirs. You and people who make comments like these, are the reason I don’t take word of mouth at face value.

I agree that he could push Lando and I hope he does . However you clearly havent bothered to look at Landos junior record! Youngest world Karting champion at just 14 in 2014. Thats why he didnt do another year in karting. Five championships in three years as a rookie. 2015 MSA F4 champion, 2016 Eurocup formula Renault, Formula Renault 2.0, Toyota racing series champion in all three as a rookie, 2017 formula 3 champion again as a rookie. 2018 become reserve driver for Mclaren and comes 2nd to George Russell in his first year on Pirelli tyres that he had no experience of but beating three other drivers who became F1 drivers. Then enters F1 at just 19.

My only criticism was they were very laddish, perhaps their style, and fawning and trying to massage Oscars ego. However full marks to Oscar in the way he handled it as he clearly has his feet on the ground. I look forward to seeing him next year and his choice of team could be a masterstroke or the death knell on a young career going against a proven driving star like Lando.

Those guys asking Oscar on whether they could get into F4 and then him explaining why karting is so important, I kinda understand what he's saying here because I honestly feel like I got my "karting experience" through years and years of racing online, as mad as that sounds. It directly translates to real life because it's still racing at the end of the day. Once you have the skillset and assuming you're both practiced at it to be competent and fit/conditioned enough to actual deal with a real car, most of racing wheel to wheel is more mental/psychological like most other sports, that aspect of competing with other people doesn't change. There's stuff about sim racing that directly translates not only to real life or karting or whatever, but also other sports too. I see the differences as just things you adapt to, the rest is just honing the fundamentals that allow you to compete in whatever game you decide to play.
