Now at 65 years old, if I try to reflect back on why more students liked me than hated me, you may think that I would have enough data to write a book. Truth be known, I have no idea. But I always was slightly supersticious. I always worried, and still do today, if I delved too deeply into "what my secret was", it would disappear. Here is what I have gleened, and it was true when I started my teaching career, and I suspect will be true for centuries to come... STUDENTS DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU KNOW UNTIL THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE. If I had a gift, it was expressing how much I cared about my kids whether they would make an "A", or less in my class. I would be silly, play Disney theme songs, create foolish memory tricks if it helped my kids. Some of my kids would tell you I jumped up on their desks. Obviously, they are mistaken. No "teacher college" can teach those methods. Afterall, those are not methods. All my years in the classroom, I was, for bad or good, me. Just me. @@jimmcleod7286 I think that's some teachers problem. They try to keep their personal life way to secret. And it makes it seem like they are always faking their own personality in the class room. Why must some people attack this wonderful man because he has used his belief in his god to steer his path through life. I am actually an atheist, not even an agnostic, but I respect this man enormously and I share his love of his fellow man, the compassion and humanity he shows. It is clear from these young people that they owe him a massive debt but it is also clear that he thinks little of that, he just does it because he knows it is the way all people should live. It is so sad that some have to attack him just because he believes in a god they don't. Whether there is an after life or not is irrelevant, this man is tattooed into the hearts of hundreds of young people.

GuyThatCommentsVids Adam maybe wanted to say: Why teachers of just America? ;)
@nothingissacred51577 жыл бұрын
*I* and *Adam Cunningham* I would imagine because they're an American, and it would be outside of their normal experience to know how teachers are treated in other countries. Here, they're not valued as highly as they should be, the profession doesn't have half the respect that it should, and they're paid a pittance of their worth. Maybe (probably) teachers are underappreciated everywhere, maybe not. What's wrong with someone sticking to speaking about what they know?

The more often we see the things around us - even the beautiful and wonderful things - the more they become invisible to us. I remember it like it was yesterday; more than 25 years ago, my favourite teacher, everyone's favourite teacher; Mr Tregoning, left to become the deputy head at another school. He was just one teacher out of about 20 at the school, but such was the grief of the students that classes were cancelled for the day and everyone, and I mean everyone, cried their eyes out. There were kids lying on the floor, beating the ground in anguish, some kids cried themselves sick, others walked the corridors like zombies, sobbing and choking on tears. Some kids even threatened suicide, and they had to bring in councillors for a couple of weeks after. It's incredible what affection one can feel for a really great teacher.

I totally don't know this guy, this teacher, but I'm pretty sure he is great. I don't know much people who receive SUCH a warm "good bye" from their students. Happy for him.)

Oh my goodness. I always love stories showcasing giving back&love to deserving teachers, and I love watching enchroma glasses reaction videos. This video is the home run to all the reaction videos for me. How did I not see this before. Plus this teacher resembles and acts a bit like a cousin of mine, so it had me even more emotional than normal, I was emotional x3 ToT!! God bless him, and everyone in this video!! Beautiful video. Beautiful people!

He handled that so well. From the videos I've seen, the moment these glasses go on it's such a personal experience. And to do that in front of so many people and maintain composure.. amazing
