For those asking how he knew the names of colors: Imagine if the color we call red was suddenly intensified and brightened. We'd still call it red (maybe bright red?). He knew the word red and attributed it to a certain (incorrect) shade. He just didn't realize it was so bright and "red-y". He knew the correct words. Suddenly his world was intensified. We cannot know that exact feeling but it must be incredible, as so many color blind people cry when they see the correct color. We might all be colorblind in a way that we didn't realize. Maybe whales or elephants see an amazing color humans cannot see? It is a cool concept.

I can’t love this video enough! I had my sight restored over the last 10 years between both eyes through cornea transplants. I have keratoconus (disease in both eyes where corneas are severely damaged). I know the wonderful feeling of gaining my sight back and all the emotions he felt! Some people don’t think being color blind is a big deal, but to not have the ability to see something can be very heartbreaking! Sending lots of love and hugs to you all!
