In this video, I am trying out an ENAMEL paint for the first time and letting you know all of my thoughts! I'll guide you through the steps of prepping the surface by sanding, cleaning & priming. Then, I will demonstrate how to apply the enamel paint to achieve a smooth, even finish without drips or brush marks, using a paint roller. I was so glad to have been able to save this dresser and give it a new life!

My husband’s aunt was a secretary for Mr. Lane and my grandfather worked in the plant in Rocky Mount, Virginia! So many families in my home town were supported by working for the Lane Company. It is wonderful to see their legacy continue to give people happiness. Thank you for caring and sharing!

Patricia Ross, thank you for sharing! In the 50’s, in Norman, Oklahoma, Lane gave cedar boxes (approx 9”x3”x3” ) that locked to all of the graduating senior girls as a promotion to purchase cedar chests. I have my mom’s plus the regular sized cedar chest that she purchased in the 50’s. I love both!

Beautifully done. And congrats on getting full price. I noticed that in the reveal of the legs the underside of the sides were primed yet not painted. Also in the video of the new owner picking up the piece the backside was left untouched. Yes the idea is that most people will have the backside against a wall and it won't be seen. My personal opinion is that it looks unfinished. I like to have the option of having a piece of furniture floating away from the wall.

I was gifted a Lane hope chest for my 18th birthday many years ago, and it still looks exactly the same today - perfect. They are definitely quality pieces that can be handed down for generations. The paint color you chose is absolutely gorgeous, and your dresser turned out perfect. What an amazing transformation for so little money and just a bit of effort. Nicely done!

I really love your videos and have been watching you for a long time. The videos of the Air BnB were just excellent. I binge watched through all of them. They really brought me back to your channel. The furniture flips are excellent as well. While watching the Air BnB videos, I was surprised that you would show your address the way you did. By seeing the numbers for the house, it took me about five minutes to find the exact address. I'm a 60-year-old woman and always concerned for the safety of young women. There are some really creepy people out there. On a happy note, your videos and wonderful and I can see you really growing and trying new things and they are very inspirational. I hope to try the pour technique you used on the dresser drawers. That piece turned out fantastic!! Best wishes!!

You’re supposed to brush over the paint with a brush after rolling it on. That will prevent from having orange peel texture 😃

Yes, I agree. When I’m painting large surfaces I roll out and finish with a brush. Only have to do very light sanding and I only use wood filler for wood. Primes afterwards

Wow! That was great to be able to sell it for asking price! Congratulations on that! It turned out beautifully. I have always loved Lane Furniture, but then they went overseas and the quality came down some. Not as badly as some companies, but it did suffer some. I hope they begin to make their furniture back in America soon. Thanks for sharing this with us. So pretty.

No shade here but if you want to expand your wings as a refinisher may I suggest you visit more experienced refinishers that would’ve maintained the integrity of a Lane piece with all its natural beauty. It would’ve taken a little more elbow grease but the payoff would’ve been exponential. Mad City Modern, Transcend Furniture Gallery to name a few. Of course you do you and obviously a fabulous profit was made but a lost opportunity to challenge yourself and grow. Just my two cents. I do enjoy and support your channel 😊.

All your hard work paid off in the end. I'm so glad you were able to feature those beautiful wood drawers. The green paint is a great choice. I am concerned about the integrity of the legs w/o caps. Furniture leg ferrules, supply both form and function. They provide both elegance and protection for your furniture, without them stress on the narrow legs will result in split wood. Merely painting the legs to look like they have caps isn’t a quality solution in my opinion.

It’s absolutely gorgeous! I am so happy that you saved that beautiful wood! I wonder if the green trend has traveled to Scandinavia? Do you ever use shellac under the primer when you suspect the wood is going to bleed through? Here we always paint the “places where the branches leave the trunk” before we paint untreated pine. It’s always good to use it on oak to. I have head that shellac is quite good as a primer, but I don’t know or is sure. Keep up your great work but make sure you have some time for living too! Take care, and thank you so much for your interesting videos!
