We always Ted behind the mower and put power start addative on it aiming for 30% dm get me around 11.8 and 16% protein. On rolling those purposes built compactor r ready good if silage is coming in fast . Silage analysis r good 2 compare but the cows will tell u if its good or not

Would u ever consider calving quarter of the cows in the autumn prevents a lot of work in the spring and keep the milk flowing

No for me it would just create more work. It's easy to calve 20 cows a day in spring than only 15 and then have to calve 5 again in autumn.

Yes Mark, I used to make rubbish third cut for a few years in absolutely perfect condition in August, but I tried Ecosil and it was 74 dmd, and protein 14%. So I use it on all 3 cuts now and I wouldn't make silage without it. That's only my opinion Mark.

No I don't mix any feed and I don't have to feed small amounts like this often enough to justify one
