here in England its so cold and wet our cows are housed at night , grass growth is slow and we are feeding silage in May again for the second year in a row , in my opinion this is normal and warm dry weather in May is a bonus

Great video, grass is tight around the country. We grazed our silage ground earlier to lengthen first round so still going ok. Did you see the butterfat pick up when the silage was introduced?

Yes Butterfat back up to 4.36%

We have plenty of grass, cows also on 16kg of concentrate between maize and barley 0.5 kilo of straw have about 10 days of grass a head atm and are on 2kg a day in parlour

Probably a better return from meal fed now as cows approach peak production along with getting them back in calf,if grass is tight. Meal looks like its only going to go up in price as the year goes on.

How do you rate the multi shear. Looked like pieces of the inner wrap came away when you were putting out the first bale?
@MCMilkingIt3 жыл бұрын
I think it's very good 👍 sometimes the last bit of the plastic on the inside from when the bale is made can be cut off and nothing is holding it

Squeaky bum time with the weather in this country its either a feast or a famine. Feed the cows as cheaply as possible to maximise profit not production. 2.2kgs ms excellent production

@yoannleroux48613 жыл бұрын

You should look into zerograzing rather than feeding silage

I don't have grass to zero graze
