My mom went to high school with him. They were friends. Jay, from what I heard from my mom, and my friends older brother, who also knew and went to high school with Jay, that he was really a nice guy. Looked a little chubbier, obviously. But, he was the kind to never give up and persevere, so it was weird to see him be broken by training. It kinda hurts to hear that it took away his love for music. When he came back, it was a strange feeling. Mom said "he felt dull and distant, like his soul was gone or something.", She was a little worried. Mom didnt know him well and wasnt that close with him, but knew him well enough to know this wasnt normal. Anyway, just a little insight.

I still remember in 2010, I used to play this online VR game called Habbo Hotel and dead ass the first guy who ever catfished me in my life pretended to be Jay Park and sent me that video of him singing "Nothin' on You," at the time I didn't know of Jay's popularity but that person, whoever they may have been, introduced me to the Kpop world telling me that they were a trainee and that opened the gateway to my obsession with Kpop and Korean culture in general, it wasn't until 2013 that I realised I had been catfished after seeing him on Ryan Higah's channel in the bromance video and learning about who he was/his backround story despite having listened to his music since 2010; crazy times but everything happens for a reason because Jay Park is literally my fav artist ever and ultimate bias!!!

Hi, jwalker here, must say I love your video!! Just wanted to complement something about Jay leaving 2PM. I know talking about it is really unnecessary and tbh Jay doesnt need to be remembered as a part of the group anymore, but in the video it seemed that he walked out of 2PM pacifically. Well actually the own fanbase from Korea wanted to have a meeting with JYP and do a formal sign, getting the fanbase and the 2PM members to vote for Jay leaving the group. You know in Korean they take fanbases quite serious. All the members except one (I think it was Nickhun or Taecyeon) voted him to leave and JYP literally kicked him out. He didnt want the controversy so he didnt make a fuss about it because the comments in my space were "bad" enough. But lets remember that during that time he was just a foreigner and Korea was still really closed and traditional. When I read about this it broke my heart because he struggled so much, in the end he had to come back to US and live with his cousin because he had almost nothing. Yeah new fans/people who think about joining kpop, korean musical industry can be really bitchy.

I don't know if this information is a 100% true because I haven't looked deeply into it (I was like 14 at the time) so I can't answer you for sure, but what I can remember is that I read it from a trustworthy site and they gave a lot of details on it. The information about he leaving because koreans thought he was being racist (which doesn't make sense) is real though so I might edit this comment lol thanks for reaching out!
