I know that the bases of the PDCs are mounted parallel to the hull (at least on the Corvette-class), while here they're perpedicular. It seems less practical, since the area that they can target (sorry, I don't know the technical term) is basically cut in half. But i didn't really pay attention to how they're mounted on the real Donnager, so I could just be wrong.

Thank you! Yeah, figuring out how to accurately replicate the Donnager in SE was quite a challenge, but I enjoyed it. I even built the interior, as accurate to the limited footage from the show as space would allow. The music is from David Lynch's 1984 film Dune, which seemed fitting for a battle over a desert planet like Mars.

You can get them pretty close in terms of guidance capability. It's a matter of the thrust produced by your missile's engine, the power available, and the gyro capacity. Of course, they won't be traveling at 30G or whatever the acceleration of torpedoes in the show is, but that's because at velocities over a couple hundred m/s objects start clipping through each other.

@@niconoire This is set in about 2350. I'm a bit surprised tech has not progressed even more. But that's through contemporary sci-fi lenses. I thought Babylon 5 was a bit backward too, for the 2200's and ST Enterprise to advanced for only 150 years hence.

At 8:02 my god! That massive guitar lick at the crescendo with choir and orchestra. Magnificent. Brings a tear to the eye with such awesomeness seldom experienced in film or TV. Gotta love Toto. A spit in the eye for the haters of Lynch's Dune, though the sad, oh, so sad Smithee version deserves hate. New Dune will not match this, though with Pink Floyd I'm keen for it One of the great films with one of the great soundtracks. Timeless.

Yeah it makes me kind of sad how sore Lynch remains about his film. I understand why, and it's certainly a flawed interpretation of the source material, but it's also a stylistically unique masterpiece in a lot of ways. This film set a sci-fi benchmark for me as a little kid, and few films to this day come close. That said, The Expanse has set a new one.

@@marinervalley1588 Ah, yes, those are indeed Nukeguard's PDCs. Right now I'm about to finish swapping almost the entire light armor exterior of the Donnager with with heavy armor. I'm also building a 1:1 scale Truman Class from scratch, since there dont seem to be any on the workshop and I want to record an actual battle between them. I'm also halfway done with a 1:1 Hiigaran destroyer from Homeworld 2.

If you go to the blueprint/world link in the video description, you'll be able to see a list of the mods used. All of the weapons are from mods except for the torpedoes, which are build from vanilla blocks and use a targeting/guidance script.

Is Dune '84 Music just not copyrighted? I'm hearing it all over KZbin. Guess it's because pretty much everyone involved has disowned the film, chiefly Lynch himself.

I understand why Lynch disowned it and I can empathize with his resentment, but it makes me sad because for all its deviations from the source material and flaws as a film, it's still a unique and incredible piece of visual sci-fi. As for the music, it's definitely copyrighted because the first thing that happened when I uploaded this video was a notice from youtube that it couldn't be monetized due to a copyright claim (though, oddly, only for the third track).

Do you mean in terms of PC hardware? I'm not really sure... I wouldn't try loading it into a server with a lot of players, but my friend with a GTX 900 series card with an i5 and 8GB of memory was able to load it and play around with it.

Those are laser designators, painting targets for the guided torpedoes. They flash a little more frequently than I like and can be pretty distracting, unfortunately.
