The echos in this episode stand out! Kingpin shows up to surprise Maya, Maya shows up to surprise Kingpin, Fisk offers cookies to Maya, Chula offers cookies to Maya, there is purpose.

If he really cared about her he would have learned to sign himself

I get that you feel in raising a child he should learn sign language, but also he is an older man and clearly has dozens of irons in fires...we also don't know that he has the best brain/education to learn quickly...how many concussions and all has he had as a fighter? Intelligence is slow to anger...Fisk clearly gets angry uncontrollably is seconds LoL...that slow speech pattern as well is a guy that knows he has to careful measure his words and process what he needs to say (imo)...I think it is pretty dope that he makes sure he can communicate by any means with her...but I get the point. Also as a nascent Producer I would have liked them to use more elements in shooting/story telling that show her experience in being deaf...like people appearing not walking up out of darkness, but just appearing more sudden like they did when she was taken last episode. Or how jarring it is to have someone touch you that you didn't hear coming and that tying into her needing to have an elevated sense of danger or inner peace/control to not be defensive in settings...

16:27 Maya DID see him as a father figure. Even though she called him Uncle, he was all she had growing up. Did you notice the school she was going to as a child? Wilson sent her to the school her father spoke about in Hawkeye. Wilson fell in love with Maya at her dojo. He saw that she was a fighter at a young age and she never let any of her disabilities get her down. He liked what he saw and decided to make her his. Did you watch the Netflix Daredevil series? The showrunner for this series said Netflix is now canon and Disney Plus did add the Netflix shows to the MCU timeline, but I'm still not buying it. I think the Netflix shows are like the Sony Spider-Man movies--variant's story in the Multiverse, and that's okay because while many people didn't care much for Phase 4 of the MCU, Phase 4 showed us what the Multiverse is, infinite copies of the same universe, every variants story is the same in every universe, but with some degree of variance. Peter 1, Peter 2, and Peter 3 had different yet very similar experiences, their canon events. We saw the same thing in the Spiderverse movies, Multiverse of Madness, and the Loki series. This Kingpin doesn't appear to have a family. Netflix and the Spiderverse movies showed us that he has a family and that he would move heaven and earth for them. Maya fills that hole that the MCU Wilson Fisk has. Wilson is the Kingpin, he's got his fingers in everything and he's always on the lookout for new opportunities. Wilson isn't a normal business or man for that matter. To do the things he does while also supporting Maya, he didn't have time to learn ASL, so he did the next best thing have an assistant do it for him. And as the flashbacks show, it wasn't a problem until Maya learned that Wilson was behind her father's murder. Wilson isn't angry at Maya but he is disappointed. Maya's his little girl and he wants her to come home. I don't think Wilson did the right thing, he's the Kingpin. Still, while he used Maya as his right hand, he still saw her as a daughter, then and now. I can't wait for you to see the rest of the episode. I think you'll see why the story is playing out the way it is. I'm glad this wasn't a movie, as Disney Plus has more time to build up a character many people don't know. A two-hour movie wouldn't have given this story the justice this series did.

I think we could have used a few more episodes and that way we wouldn't have needed the constant back and forth. I wanted more time with the family characters. Especially Bonnie.

Yes more time with the family would have been great
