Hey guys! Thank you all so much for all the love and support you constantly show me over here on this channel! Yesterday was one of those days where I woke up feeling like shit. Not in a sick way, but I just felt terrible about myself. It was weird as fuck. Felt like I couldn't be proud of myself. Felt like I didn't deserve anything. Felt inadequate. Only reason I'm saying this is because this was on my heart, and I felt like someone out there may need to hear this. I know that a lot of times life can get weird. It can be difficult. It can seem unbearable. I want to remind you guys that no matter what stage you're in, in your life, there will be struggles. We are all going through it. That is a huge part of the reason I make these videos: to help provide some relief and escapism for all of you

Lex has never been psychotic like Joker. He's a bald, insanely smart, stoic, calm and collected businessman. Nothing like Eisenberg is in this movie, but also nothing like Alex is expecting Lex to be.
@Kaldurahm1
@Kaldurahm1 Ай бұрын
Exactly! He's been a businessman, an arrogant a-hole, but never crazy or fully unhinged. My personal favorite version of Lex is from All-Star Superman. A human, a genius, a billionaire--with all the self-confidence and human failings that come with it. There's something to be said about a man who feels he is made less, that it is patently unfair for an alien to be this pinnacle of power without having to work for it like he had to. My second favorite is likely Rosenbaum's Lex from Smallville. A potential brother, a best friend, an abused child looking for connection, feelings of personal betrayal? Anything but this

I think what this movie was going for was making him into like, a pretentious Elon Musk/Jeff Bezos type of character, which I honestly don't think is a bad idea in concept, but the issue is that they leaned too much into the whole "pretentious god complex" aspect, which just made him seem unhinged and ridiculous. Methinks with a better script or better direction, this version of the character could have had more going for it.

A lot of people assume Alfred is supposed to be weak and old, but in the comics, that's not really the case. In most versions, Alfred served in the British Armed Forces or worked in intelligence, which gave him combat skills, medical training, and tactical knowledge. As for his age, he’s usually portrayed as being in his late 50s to early 60s in most iterations.

The Batman that Affleck is portraying is based widely on the Frank Miller character from his graphic novel. The suit you see that has “jokes on you” is from when Joker killed Robin. This Batman is older, has been fighting crime in Gotham for 20 years and has lost his moral compass. You should watch the animated movie Batman: Return of the Dark Knight parts one and two. When Iron Man came out with the tease for building to an Avengers film, DC was asked if they had any similar plans. Their response was no, their heroes were iconic and had no need to team up (even though there is that Justice League thing in the comics). Flash forward a few years when Avengers makes over a billion at the box office... NOW they decide they need to go that route. Unfortunately, instead of wanting to establish each hero on their own and build to the big team up, they had a 'we need to catch up to Marvel quick' mentality and rushed everything. DC/ WB only have themselves to blame.

In the OG Superman 2, they find a way to trap Zod and his crew in some crazy prison. I think it would’ve been cool to have a callback to that. Superman can literally hear EVERYTHING, and just focuses on whatever sounds are most important at the time. if he hears an entire group of people screaming in terror at once or a series of massive explosions, that's the issue that takes precedence over one individual scream, for example. in the issue of Lois Lane, he literally can recognize her voice as distinct and considers her top priority, Barring an impending world ending catacysm. the same SHOULD apply to Martha Kent, and a more comic accurate Clark would likely have intervened when she was first kidnapped.

1. I love seeing the DCU through the eyes of non-fans who see it like it actually is. 2. Lex was never like the Joker. He is not supposed to be insane. He is a genius that fears Superman will one day take over and is hyper focused on killing him before he can. 3. If they had only added "Save my mother, Martha Kent, save Martha"...it would stopped the literal flood of tears from bitchy fans that harshly judged the movie and not made that scene as cringe as it was. 4. Yes, in the comics their mothers names were both Martha. 5. There is no "I think Batman would team up", Batman was always a loner AND this is before the Justice League which formed out of a "need" to be able to take on stronger villain's. That is why the movie is "The Dawn of Justice". IE: The need for the Justice League. 6. The "monster" is supposed to be Doomsday and in the comics....Doomsday kills Superman in "The Death of Superman". But. Will he rise again? 7. This is the Batman after Robin is beaten to death by the Joker...he is broken. Dark and more extreme. 8. The "thing" that is missing is that Warner Bros wanted to do in 3 movies what the MCU did over 12...build a cinematic universe. Snyder was forced to make this 2 part script into 1 and then do the same with the next movie, Justice League all while turning down the idea that Superman needed another movie and that the Wonder Woman, Flash and Cyborg movies should be released BEFORE this one.

So I will disagree that just doing a Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman film would have been enough especially since Snyder himself said he had 2 scripts and wanted The Flash and Cyborg coming in to help stop Doomsday who was also written very differently for this single film. BTW...Brainiac was completely cut out of the script and Luther was made the creator of Doomsday. Brainiac was going to be the computer on Zods ship making it more in line with one of the comics iterations of the character.

My all time favorite Superhero film. There's plenty of emotional depth in the Snyderverse, there's just not any unnecessary exposition. Superman and Batman are the two most recognizable and well known superheroes in all of pop culture... We've gotten the full blown origin story a bunch... Personally, I like how we get an older Batman who's more brutal, a bit jaded, and honestly... More grounded and realistic. The way Ben Affleck stares at the suit like an alcoholic needing his bottle. The Snyderverse takes the concept of what it would be like to live in a world with superheroes... The grounded, serious tone is what I appreciate so much. The morality aspect of it... The nihilistic nature of characters vs the hopeful faithful nature of others... It makes for a deeper story with each character's ideologies etc... Marvel imo wastes time doing joke fests and not telling a deeper story, with the exception of stories told in shows like Daredevil and The Punisher. I'm really glad you saw and appreciated the true meaning behind the "Martha" scene... It's easily overlooked by some people. Also, the greatest fighting sequence is shown in this film: The warehouse fight sequence. The Robin costume is a direct nod to the fact that Joker killed him and kicked him by writing that on his burnt suit. When I first watched this, the only thing I wasn't initially sold on was Lex Luthor, but upon rewatches, I appreciate his character... He's the Lex before the iconic Lex... He's extremely nihilistic and psychotic, but he's not as collective as he becomes after this experience via this film. Overall, I love it and I hope to see your reaction to Zack Snyder's Justice League... Please DO NOT watch the abomination that was the Joss Whedon version.

To explain the Chamber. In this version of the story, Kryptonians are no longer born. A decision is reached as to what *type* of person is needed for a particular task and the genetic material from two people who are best disposed to that task are combined in the chamber to tailor the resultant child to be what is needed. Zod, for instance, was literally bred to be a warrior in such a manner. However, if you're not careful, or screw around with the genetic material, you can create some truly monstrous beings with unpredictable and terrible power.

With a grenade- once the pin is pulled the “safety” has been disengaged. As soon as the hand lever releases past a certain point the ignition has already begun making its way to the explosive payload, within. I think what a lot of people didn't realize at first was that Batman WAS a villain. In the beginning, Bruce was giving a metaphor about his life as Batman being "a beautiful lie". How everything used to be black and white, good and evil, but he sees that's not the case. This Batman is 20 years in the game. He's jaded and fed up. His arc in this movie is best summed up by Harvey Dent's line in The Dark Knight. "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain." When Batman is reminded of his parents' death, he realizes he has now taken the role of his parents' killer. He decides to throw that away and turn a new leaf. Before, Bruce tells Alfred "How many good guys are left? How many stayed that way?" After seeing Superman sacrifice himself, he's inspired to be better and tells Diana "Men are still good." Batman's arc in BvS is a redemption arc. From villain to returning hero.

World's Finest, Parts One & Part Two from Superman: The Animated Series (1997) does a far superior job of portraying the first meeting between Superman and Batman. This storyline sees the Joker arriving in Metropolis and forming an alliance with Lex Luthor. Bruce Wayne's arrival in Metropolis leads to a tense start with Clark Kent, thanks Bruce asking Lois out for dinner. Batman and Superman then meet in a strip club, Superman discovering Batman's true identity. Batman then discovers Superman's identity by tracking Superman back to Clark's apartment, again no physical just both characters being mental games on each other along with Bruce trying to make Clark a little jealous by dating Lois for a little while. Batman leaves Metropolis as an ally to Superman. There's no Superman's death or underwhelming introductions of key DC characters. The Batman (2004) also had a really fun first meeting between Batman and Superman, heavily inspired by the story above just with its own spin. Both are so much better than what we got in this film.

I'm just curious, what made him feel more like the comic book character? The fact that he murders people with guns, ritualistically tortures people, wakes up next to random women with no real explanation, or that he has somehow developed the super power of prophetic dreaming? He's without a doubt the least comic book accurate Batman. But to be fair, this script also split Lex Luthor in half and mixed one half with Batman and the other half with the Riddler. The whole movie really wanted to be a Frank Miller story but it was written by someone who has decidedly far less talent than Frank Miller.

@@kylekillpack2272 Well if you look at the earliest comic iterations of batman he did indeed kill and used guns. It was changed to the "no kill, no guns" later on but originally, yes, Batman did use guns and killed. Also the Batman that is portrayed in Zack Snyder's movies is based off of Frank Millers Dark Knight series which the movie did a solid job at doing. Therefore Ben Affleck's adaptation of Batman was one of, if not the most comic accurate physically and mentally comparing to the original Batman comics and the frank miller Dark knight series this is specifically based off of. I don't understand why people complain about the killing/guns and his mentality in the film when all it takes is a quick 5 min google search lol. You people expect some perfect portrayal of a character which is not possible. Someone will always have something negative to say and in no way am i saying this Batman is perfect but in no way was he a horrible adaptation... Affleck is fantastic as batman all around. Batman is one of the harder superheroes for an actor to play, because you have to play two distinct characters, Batman and Bruce are NOT the same person and require you to really flex your acting ability, and bruce is often masking himself with yet another persona. Keaton was a decent Batman, but was fantastic as the isolated, emotionally damaged and traumatized bruce wayne, for example. Clooney was decent at both, but trapped in a terrible film. Bale was far better at being batman than being bruce wayne. Affleck nails both sides of the character very well, and (in my opinion) has the same problem clooney did, in that he's trapped in a subpar film by a writer/director who doesn't really understand the characters he's creating. visually stunning films, don't get me wrong, but lacking in understanding of the substance of it all. i was really looking forward to the cancelled Affleck standalone Batman film, because it feels like Affleck really get's the character, and he's a fantastic director, so i had real high hopes for it.

Fr like the comic Batman that stays the same morally throughout decades of fighting crime in one of the most dangerous cities on Earth is completely unrealistic to how that would affect someone's mind. The closest the comics get to portraying the mental and emotional impact of that life is the time after [SPOILER] Jason's death, where he's much more careless and cruel than usual.Ben Affleck's Batman probably started out with the no-guns, no-killing rules, but unlike the comics he didn't keep that mindset as he progressed and saw more and more terrible crimes. Maybe he would've been less of a hardass if he's had a Robin in this universe, but he doesn't. There's no reason for him not to kill besides his own moral compass.

@@gourdguru I think Pattinson's Batman, while quite different from the comics (he doesn't pretend not to be emo), is also a good portrayal, especially since that's the first few years of his work as Batman. I've never seen it that way, but when MoS came out I was hyped that DC movies were back and getting nice live action big budget films again. And the director of 300 as well? Sign me up. I also love the MCU as well. but strangely prefer Whedon's work there over what he did in JL. Snyder cut is much more in line with the first two films. Whedon colors his movies like they are literally out of comic panels. which imo works well in the avengers

The directors cut bodies most of the MCU. So does MoS, but they aren't as good as peak Marvel.
@RedShirtGuy96

@@johnohrstrom5112 I agree, this film and man of steel hold up really well compared to a lot of the MCU. they just have a different feel and tone to them that works well with how DC usually is. MCU has its peaks and valleys, and peak MCU i guess is pretty subjective, I know I adore Ultron because of James Spader as a stargate nerd myself, though that one gets debated a lot. it pretty much sets up the infinity saga in the same way as man of steel for justice league.

in most of the comics and the shows where Bats and Sups are a part of the Justice League, batman is very closed off and suspicious of every member of the team, so much so that he has a thing called a contingency plan that is basically all the weaknesses of the the members just incase they go evil or rogue.

A NON-SPOILER STORYTIME: Although the "extended version" of this movie was as long as it was... the studio refused to allow for Zack to create his completed universe which would've ultimately answered all questions and allow audiences to watch them in whatever order they wanted just like a nerd would with a comic book collection or just like people do with the MCU (watching them out of order, and still having them all make sense, due to all the information being there scattered throughout). Thus, the following movies are missing which could've beaten the MCU if they were given time to breathe: > Su*c*de Squad (the original script for the brutal R-rated 3-hour long action/thriller/horror team-up movie that was to introduce The Joker and a bunch of new characters that are all bad guys, including Harley Quinn) > Green Lantern (solo movie + backstory) > Batman (solo movie + proper backstory to how Bruce became "Old Man Bruce" like in the comics + Directed By Ben Affleck) > Man Of Steel 2 (explaining more backstory, and much more emotional character development) > Zack Snyder's Justice League 2 & 3 (Zack almost completed the 2nd film during production of the first one, and the footage only exists in his possession until the studio allows him to complete the rest of the movies. The 3rd film was a natural result of changing so much during the production of the already released films being released as they were due to studio interference) > The Flash (the version that was originally pitched and not the version we ultimately got) The studio in fact removed so much content, that in the next movie (Zack Snyder's Justice League), it was originally meant to be a 2-part cinematic epic, with both parts being roughly 4+ hours in length each. In the end, the best Zack could hope for was what he was allowed to create: > a single 143-minute Superman movie > a single 182-minute long Batman movie that was badly merged into a Batman VS Superman movie because the studio wasn't going to allow him to make a natural continuation > a single but extremely worthy team-up masterpiece in Zack Snyder's Justice League movie (the legacy of this film cannot be understated, as the studio wouldn't even let Zack Snyder grieve over the loss of his real-life daughter who took her own life during Production of the 2017 version of the Justice League movie, and as a result, the studio just handed that first version of the film over to Joss Weadon who didn't even wana do it. As a result of that, Joss changed the entire feel of every single character, their motivations, warped the story into a vomit-like cake, and didn't give us a proper conclusion to anything. The studio also forced Joss to cut the film to a 2 hour long runtime. In the end, the studio finally caved and Zack Snyder's Justice League finally happened a few years later, with 85% new footage, a 4+ hour runtime, and among some of the best fight scenes in all of DC - excluding the Dark Knight Trilogy). The remaining movies which ended up being removed from Snyder's control but were infact created for public consumption were the following: > Su*c*de Squad (the 2016 version we ended up getting was so tampered with, it's barely a shadow of its former self. The studio even ended up getting a music video editor to edit the complete film behind the Director's back just before the films release. The Director denounces the films existence to this very day. You can find heaps of the removed footage in all the trailers, music videos, and promitional material) > Aquaman (a hit with both critics and audiences) > Aquaman 2 (a missed opportunity) > Wonder Woman (to be fair, turned out to be a worthy entry if you finished before the final battle) > Wonder Woman 2 (a commerical and critical failure) > The Flash (another heavy missed opportunity that had good moments, but ultimately failed to do what it was originally set out to do in the original script)

TL;DNR My dude. Snyder is overrated. More complicated does not mean better. His direction and storytelling peaked with Suckerpunch. He buries rational narratives and emotional character building beneath his desire to be Michael Bay.
@heyitsthatmoviedude1627
@heyitsthatmoviedude1627 Ай бұрын
@@MercenaryMuse Your TL;DR doesn't even come close to what i was explaining. Beyond that, ignoring the fact that Suckerpunch sucked in general, the only version of Suckerpunch anyone should be watching, is the Extended Cut (a much more difficult version to find these days). And if a few extra minutes + a few new scenes aren't enough, that's because the movie was so restricted, censored, and cut down by the studio that Zack's still waiting to get the okay to release his Director's Cut (aka, his version of the actual movie that hasn't been tampered with by the studio). As goes for your imaginary version of Michael Bay - anyone with half a brain, knows he's an actual competent Writer and Director. Case and point; - Bad Boys 1 & 2 (Will Smith owes his action career to MB) - The Rock (Nicholas Cage owes MB for his action career too) - Pain and Gain - The Island And don't even bother mentioning movie that he's Produced but didn't Write or Direct. Being a Producer on a film gives you little say in what actually happens with the movie. Their biggest responsibilities are legal issues, shooting schedulling, financing, hiring talented people like writers and other folks on production, and lastly, commerical viability.

This Batman is the Batman that has been doing this for 20 years and has seen and lost so much that he is at that point of at any cost. The end when he doesn’t brand lex is showing that he is coming back to what he used to be. Superman’s death was a turning point. You have to watch this movie knowing where Batman is in his life and understand that he is different at this point in his life. The struggle that Superman goes through trying to do the right thing and doubting if he can live up to what his father seen him as makes him relatable and human. Love it

The close proximity to kryptonite causes him to weaken, significantly. The bullet that exploded in his face was kryptonite vapor, that he breathed in, causing him to weaken until all of the vapor got out of his system......ei, he breathes it in, his blood stream picks it up, circulates it through his body. The question is, how many exhales does it take to rid the body of ALL of the air you just took in? This is why the vapor lasted as long as it did
