Seriously on what planet is a 100 Million dollar opening not considered excellent even for an MCU movie - that’s just a flat out untruth! Looking at the MCU and opening weekends for new movie franchises and u will see that YES 100M is great and better than most. It’s only sequels and Avengers movies that aim well beyond that figure. Although Cap is sequel it’s acting like Cap 1 since it’s basically a brand new Cap. It’s annoying if the goal post are moved ahead for MCU. U can’t say it’s great for every studio but not for marvel . If they are only compared to their peak than they will always fail in ur eyes!

Other DC shows slated to come out this year, though have yet to have official release dates, include: The Sandman S2 My Adventures With Superman S3 Batman Caped Crusader S2 Bat-Family S1 There is also Teen Titans Go and Batwheels on the kids front, though I doubt that would get call outs, and there is also the potential for a season 2 for the Kite-Man show as well.

Gunn has to be keeping some cards close to his chest. Possibly even having scripts handed in that he is all in on, just waiting for the right moment to lock it in before it's leaked/announced. Obviously has to see how Superman performs first. But I feel like the biggest thing that's already locked in that he's not putting out there, at least until post-July is Alan Ritchson as Batman. I mean c'mon. Who else would fit that silhouette from Creature Commandos?

Batman’s media is not even big anymore. Batman loses to Superman in animation and TV particularly TV. All Batman had in live action TV was Gotham and the Penguin. Superman had Smallvile, Superman and Lois, Krypton, Supergirl and so much more. Superman’s also done better in animation be it film or TV. Batman has video games with the Arkham series. Batman had live film but considering that the last Batman film came out like 3 years ago. Superman is gaining on him. Batman hasn’t really had that much going on in media this decade. They will either think you're referring to Lois and Clark or Smallville. The fact is Superman hasn't had a successful run in theaters since Reeve and the shadow of his performance still looms heavy over any attempts to go forward with anything new. This new movie could potentially be the one that finally breaks through by being the introduction to essentially the live action version of the original DCAU, but only time will tell

I can say that I am equally excited for F4/Superman, with F4 slightly edging it out. I showed my girlfriend (who has seen all the MCU movies, and only the Loki seasons) the Superman trailer, and she immediately - begrudgingly - asked: “Okay, what do I need to watch before this?” I told her that she wouldn’t have to see anything, and I’m banking on that, because - for her - seeing all the heroes in the trailer made her feel immediately outside. I tell her to trust me, but I REALLY think she’ll be coming into it with the wrong mindset, and I don’t want her to have that in place.

I think Marvel is relying on concepts to sell their stories in a connected universe which makes it hard to root for the film. Like I can’t at all say I’m excited for F4 cause I genuinely haven’t seen any of the actors in character yet. I think James Gunn on the other hand is relying on the stories and the finished projects to prove concepts and for that reason I’m far more excited for Superman and Peacemaker than any of the Marvel titles. I will say Captain America is one I’m excited for in Marvel’s upcoming releases. I just think Marvel is bloated at this point and they’re shitting the bed.

So I get that this could be a ‘no-no’ negative thing to bring up on shows like this/channels like this but..as with some other previous years, I firmly feel the quantity of MCU projects jammed into one year is a staunch negative working against them (3 movies in about 5 months, 6 shows in a year where it should be just DD & Iron heart..) The quality of each thing will be most important of course but this just objectively undeniably adds to the fatigue from the whole genre. Shoutout to the low quantity & hopefully high quality DCU has going this year.

Superman will be the biggest hit of any 2025 super hero movie. He's the biggest name, everyone is excited about the DCU, the MCU is down bad, Cap 4 is full of controversy, Thunderbolts isn't even the Thunderbolts and its a bunch of no name characters, Fantastic Four is mired in controversy and can't start its marketing campaign until after Thunderbolts releases. Superman is set up for success while the others are fighting an uphill battle.

A Captain America movie beat the shit outta a Batman and Superman movie. That couldn’t even gross a billion dollars at the BO. I think you grossly overestimate its Superman’s chances. Superman is not the beloved character you think he is worldwide. He’s corny. DC managed to get a billion dollar Aquaman movie and couldn’t do that with Superman. And using the Williams’ score is not the nostalgia grab they think it will be. Look how audiences treated the latest Indiana Jones movie. It was full of nostalgia and flopped.

I don't agree with this take at all. Marvel may have something to prove but DC is the one that is down bad. They fumbled BVS, the best cut of the movie was the extended version which most people have never seen, they absolutely fumbled Justice League, the Snyder Cut was a million times better than what they released in theaters. Marvel's competition is about getting back to the bar they set so high, DC in the past 13 years hasn't shown that it has the ability to launch and sustain any of its franchises. We are hopeful for DC with James Gunn seemingly having the right temperament but DC has way more to prove because they are trying to do something they haven't done, Marvel is just trying to recreate what they already did so well.

The thing is the MCU only has 4 projects that are going to be good storylines: FF4, and avengers movies(they’re always billion dollar projects) and hopefully spider-man trilogy. I am leaning towards DCU for the long run since this is the first iteration of the every character. I think people over hype superman some times I’ve actually only seen 1 superman movie it’s really not as amazing as most people make it and I know for a fact there’s a lot like me out there but personally Yh I think FF4 will be a hit and I’ll enjoy more then superman if I even attempt to even see it.

Gunn is so wrong about Marvel not doing Elseworlds type stories. DC copied that from Marvel. What about the New Universe? What about the Shogun Warriors? What about all the Marvel movie tie-ins and their Star Wars comics since 1977? They've been doing alternate timelines and alternate universes for far longer than DC. It just seems like DC does this more because they have to do more of this because they have fewer characters so they have to create alternate versions. DC has hundreds of characters before you get all the way down to Condiment King and Kite-Man while Marvel has 72K+ characters. And even ones as minor as Howard the Duck can become breakout smash hits. Furthermore, you are discounting Marvel's history of making up totally new characters for live-action like Darcy and Madysinn (or however it's spelled). Even Wong is such a minor character and in these movies and shows he's the Sorcerer Supreme. It's not just What If...?, it's the entire idea of alternate timelines which Marvel introduced in Days of Future Past and that's largely what inspired DC's Vertigo line and their Elseworlds. In fact, Miller liked Days of Future Past (along with other dark future timeline stories) so much that he was inspired to create the first Elseworlds story which was Dark Knight Returns. And those Elseworlds were just as much one-off ideas just like What If... So he's just wrong about that statement and you guys are giving him a pass on it instead of researching it. But it is accurate to say he feels that way, anyway.

I have no excitement for Fantastic Four. I wish I did but the multiversal conflict is a total stakes killer and it does nothing for me. I don’t like time travel stories either. I think the screening reports on Superman are fake. I think he will knock it out the park. I think it’s going to be a new take on Superman vs The Elite
