MCU X-MEN: Why Storm Deserves The First Solo Movie!

THE X-MEN ARE COMING TO THE MCU! Before the mutant team fully enters the fray, Coy Jandreau is here to tell you why characters should have solo movies before the live action of debut of the team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, more importantly, why Storm should be the first one to have a stand alone film. I've been reading comics about Storm and damn I didn't even realize how powerful she was. She can even control all aspects of the atmosphere she increased the pressure on Thor around him to make the gravity heavier. She could quite literally make entire worlds uninhabitable by changing the atmosphere on Earth like the surface of jupiter.

Firstly I absolutely love your enthusiasm for Storm. It is great! Secondly I believe storms story should really dive in to her rise to goddess. From being buried alive with her parents, living on the street, to the first person she killed to save her life and vowing never to do so again. Her connection to nature,the land and people. Her constant desire to help and bring about change for the good of all is essential. Throw in shadowking,charles and worship and we got ourselves a great movie

Storm was actually born in Harlem, New York and relocated to Cairo, Egypt as a 6 month old. She lived there for her early formative years as a thief due to her parents being killed when a plane crashed into their home when she was a small child, that also instilled a once crippling claustrophobia (that’s she’s mostly worked through now.) She left for her ancestral homeland (Kenya) and nearly died while crossing the Sahara when her powers woke as a young teen. Storm has always been my favorite X-man. She’s so regal and cinematic by her very nature and I just hope they can find someone to do her justice in live action!

The xmen is a universe on its own, there's so many characters that have their own past and character arch that you need to treat the xmen like the avengers. Storm is my favourite xmen, along side is night crawler and then gambit. Storm is so powerful and has such an amazing history she needs her own movie to help kick start the universe. Tbh, I think it’s be fairly easy to introduce Storm without the X-Men, because, like you said, she was a Goddess FIRST. The end of the movie can literally be her meeting the Prof, which would then introduce the idea of the X-Men. With her being one of THEE MOST recognizable comic book characters, a solo movie shouldn’t be difficult at all. It’s a matter of the studios being willing to do the movie. Period. Ororo has such a rich and intense origin story, the movie literally writes itself. Correction tho, she was born in New York. Her mother is from Kenya. A princess in fact, but she moved to New York with the [African American] photojournalist she fell in love with. They then moved to Cairo, where her parents died. Imagine a movie starting off with a flashback/dream/memory of that tragedy. Wow.

@Gus_Magnus sure, most X-Men start out as teens/young adults when they first join, but that doesn't mean every single character must be around that age in the movie. Storm's story already has her as 25 or so when she first joins the X-Men, so unless the X-Men movie is going to be Storm's first day on the team she's probably been part of the team for a while making 30-40 work better as an age for her. You also have to remember that she has to be old enough to believably be an educator, team leader, and mother-like figure to the younger members of the team, which doesn't work all that well if she's in her 20's like you suggest.

I've said it once and I'll say it 1000x! You want to save the MCU? Center it around the X-Men. No more Avengers or multi-verse. Just X-Men. THAT'S the big Team Up movie.

The key word you used is "centered" but some of what you said could contradict the idea of "saving" the MCU if "no more Avengers" actually applies to the new state. You are right that the mutant struggle will give a fresh and richer set of story motivators to the MCU, but it wouldn't be the MCU if it's only the X-Men in focus. So I'm with you somewhat, but with this tweak below [edit: I should clarify here that "saving" is subjective and all the MCU really needs is a focus on quality again, which I think they'll get with the restoration of Feige's autonomy and slowing of projects; but the X-Men bring new interest]. The X-Men should be treated as a marquee franchise. The quality and care put into its story building should be top notch so they can use their full potential to meet or exceed the Avengers status. With them as a big draw, all other franchises should continue to have a place, and most of them could use a Mutant or 2 in their midst, on their teams, as some of their antagonists, etc. giving that central connection to X-Men. *That way you're actually "saving" (reigniting) the MCU, not just saving Marvel Studios* (because there's a difference - having just the X-Men in focus wouldnt be the MCU, it would be Fox 2.0). That cleared up, I think there's even a place for the multiverse long term, but it shouldn't just be this wild west, where nothing sticks because time travel and multiverse can always undo or present another version of X, Y and Z character.

I disagree. Solo then team up works for avengers because they were solo heroes that join forces for a bigger threat they can't deal with alone. X-Men was always about being a team, and a school for gifted children to learn how to control their powers and survive in a world that fears them. Having solo movies first defeats the purpose of the school etc.. X-Men needs to start as an ensemble movie series before solo and small team up movies occur.

I like the idea of doing an X-Men movie first, maybe call it The Uncanny X-Men, with the OG team and establish them a la GOTG. Then do a couple of solo movies introducing new characters and being recruited, further expanding the team before doing another X-Men movie.

And then finally ending with how Charles recruited them. Nd then, have them move into live action on the big screen on their first solo movie.

YES! Storm is a true goddess. Would be sweet to see a fully realized Storm origin movie. Comic accurate and not a pc watered down version of her. I'm talking NO KID GLOVES! No studio exec interference, give the directors and actors free reign, a hard PG-13 rating if not an R because her back story is so tragic, and not really kind friendly. But as much as I would love this, it probably won't. But let's hold out some hope in our lifetime.

I would love a Storm movie. Absolutely. But, i don't think the X-Men should be introduced individually. It made sense for the Avengers. They were strangers brought together because there were threats they couldn't face alone. The Fantastic Four is a family. They aren't brought together, they start that way. The X-Men should be similar to that. They are a community, connected by common traits, hopes and fears. What we see, over and over, is how they bring new mutants into the community and help them find their place within it. Storm is one of the pillars of that community. So, i do think a solo movie for her could serve as a lead in to the team. But, I wouldn't want that for every member, not unless each one could highlight different aspects of the mutant community.

Storm is the most important mutant of all! Her story and how they are writing her in the current comics 'Fall of X' (X-men 97) and that whole series is truly astonishing. She deserves her shine!

Nice red shirt Coy. Speaking of which, I wrote a theoretical version of Thor: Love and Thunder, and in it, The Aether was used to allow Jane to gain control of Mjolnir. That was inspired by your idea on Kristian Harloff's show, when you were speculating about how Jane would get Mjolnir. I know this is random in terms of normal importance but... just thought you might like to know. *Edit:* I got a new idea for the airport battle in Civil War from a comment on the KZbin video saying they didn't understand why Iron Man's team just didn't destroy The Helicarrier, and I got an eel amygdala idea for Electro from the shark amygdala affecting King Shark in The Flash TV show too.
