I was fortunate to have seen his stage show in the '90's: for a man of his age he provided non-stop entertainment that was dynamite. I LOVED his dance numbers!

When showbiz was glamorous. Sandra Bernard said (and they didn't get on!) that Jerry Lewis was the ONLY famous star she ever met who had a distinct aura about him. He was a class act. Simple.

He's not actually playing, he never played trumpet. He was pretending. He WAS a musical guy, a good drummer and singer and dancer and even played some piano but this trumpet bit is just that -- a bit. He used to do that with various instruments in his live shows, sometimes the trumpet, sometimes an alto sax, sometimes a trombone for bigger laughs. He's not actually playing it here. He's just good at miming it. Remember, he began his career miming to popular records (of the day) and not just lip-synching the singers -- he often pretended to play instrumentals too. He even did a violin bit with a record from Jascha Heifetz, hilarious AND almost convincing. He was excellent at pantomime.
