They're not a bad rig, I'm currently running the lincoln mk2. Very similar. From WA originally esperance, been in Melbourne for 17 years. Doing alot of touring now my 3 daughters are a bit older and easier to travel with and am planning a trip back over to the south coast starting at Point Culver, Israelite Bay.

It is so nice to get the kids out camping and exploring! Happy and safe travels mate! Thanks for watching 🍻

I have a Cruiser High Side, and there is a storage "secure" box one steps on to get into the bed. I put a 2KW Diesel heater in this space. Behind the fridge in mine there is a wall of aluminium, into which I fitted a fan which has a temperature switch located in the front near the refrigerator cooling d fan, so it comes on when the temperature in the refrigerator compartment rises. I have put a mesh and louvered outlet in the door on the opposite side of the camper as well as a much better filter in the inlet in the door of the refrigerator v compartment itself. I could have set this fan to run continuously, when the refrigerator is connected but it is not silent, so I thought about sleeping with a slight hum under the bed and went for the thermostat instead. I fitted heavier duty slides to the drawer behind the refrigerator compartment, the one with the extra wheel bearings and tools, The flue for the diesel heater comes out the side just to the right of the electric switch compartment, and is horizontal because the flue is fan-forced, and does not rely on convection. This pipe is removed for travelling. I also put a bigger and heavier duty water pump in, and converted the battery and electrical system to Lithium, getting rid of the three enormously heavy deep cycle batteries. I also re-wired much of it, with extra fuse panels , and fitted a better solar charge system and a DC/DC charger for the Lithium battery, as well as a VSR cut off in the SUV so I can charge as I drive. The shower on my model is hung off the boat carrier rack, and I also fitted a lift-up-and-lock clothes line, which is used as a frame for a tarp-curtained shower enclosure. I have also linked up most of the cabinets so that they are all ventilated through stainless mesh portals. The only other thing I did was to change the lounge-space end pop-up frame so it now has a fold-down pop-up gas strut support each side, which sets the frame correctly and pretty much locks it when the top rails are fitted. That was a great idea--and I see all the newer ones have that now as as standard. I do not use the awning, instead I use a Gazebo tent which ties on to the boat rack along with my aluminium benches, and I am seldom encamped in one place for more than a day or two. I would certainly use it if I were to stay longer. I also replaced most of the steel window poles and spreaders to PVC electrical conduit pipe with aluminium hooks and pins--MUCH lighter and easy to carry, and I use elastic stretch cords to tie down flapping window covers in strong wind. So we have done similar things. I use those aluminium painters trestles bought from Bunnings as seating benches and also tables--REALLY strong--and CHEAP--but one has to lash them down on the boat rack firmly on padding. All up, my additions come to less than the weight of the lead acid batteries I removed. I only have the one water tank on the camper, but I do have two large bladder tanks I can put into the SUV rear space to be filled from a creek through a pump and filter system, if I like extra long hot showers. I also put a large aluminium box on the front to replace the water jerry can holders and gas bottle holders behind a mesh screen. I see the latest models have also done this too, but mine is a bit larger than the ones now fitted. I put new gas bottle carriers, a diesel tank for the heater, provision for extra drinking water, and I still have the original water pump, which I am considering using for a separate remote area drinking water system in a box, to be carried only if likely to be required, including a biological filter, which I have bought but am yet to fit. I suppose it will have to fit in the aluminium box to keep it all locked and safe from stone damage. Love your blogs. I look forward to seeing them.

Hey Mike sounds like you have put alot of time and thought into your mods and sounds like you have a great set up because of it! We have also toyed with the idea of using a gazebo instead of the awning, seems like it would be an easier option. Especially if you are on the move often. My wife and I (I'm a Yank and she's English) have Highside Cruizer in the UK and we do the same thing with the canvas. The awning and sides go in, everything else stays at home. We ditched the supplied table and I put in a removable curved elbow stand in the seating corner that rotates. The table I made for it can spin 360' pm the stamd. So it easy to simply rotate it out of the way. The table itself can still be used for the bed if you wished to and it all just goes on the floor when packed up. Just this past weekend we were out and had some rain. The awning and sides made it perfect to cook under and shelter while still being 'outside'. Thanks for the tips. I'm going to have to do the tubing thing to put my poles in!

Thanks for watching! Where abouts from the States are you from? I was from Wisconsin, much warmer weather here 😁 great idea about the table! @@RoaminintheRobbo Houston! But I came to the UK in the military in '99 and never really left (married my English gal!). We both travel extensively and got the Cruizer for a year long trip to southern Africa sometime in the next couple of years. It's not the most ideal camper for cold and wet northern Europe but we like it. Unfortunately, my trailer did not come with the boat rack. I would have loved to be able to put the solar panels and tubes for poles on it. What I think I will do is modify the spare tire rack so that angles to the rear about 30 degrees like some of the new models do and install a long storage box to hold all the steel tent poles. I think that would help reduce the tongue weight slightly and make more room in the trailer for stuff we use daily like the chairs, etc. Cheers y'all! ;-)

Hi mate, I’m interested in how you installed the water filter? Also why you filter into the tank & out of the tank? Is one not enough? Cheers love your Channel Steve
@RoaminintheRobbo
@RoaminintheRobbo Жыл бұрын
Hey Steve, I will at some stage do a vid on the filter install. It was pretty straight forward. I purchased the filter and fittings I needed from Pilgrims caravan & RV store in Wangara Perth. I don't have a list of exactly what I used but I'll try my best to explain. The filter is a B.E.S.T. filter and the fittings required are 12mm John Guest push fittings. From memory I used 2x elbows, 2x threaded fittings with push ends (the thread screws into the filter and the elbows push into the other end) and about a metre of pipe. The filter should come with a couple of standard garden hose fittings so you can flush out any loose carbon prior to installation. You can also get these hose fittings from Bunnings. After you've flushed the filter fit the screwed fittings into the filter and push the elbows into them, making sure they go all the way in. place that to the side. Next Remove the pipe leading from the discharge side of the water pump then remove the same pipe from the T-piece it connects to. (that T-Piece feeds both the hot water boiler and the cold water to the sink, I think😬). The push fitting will probably have a coloured clip that needs to be removed before you can depress the top of the fitting to remove the pipe. Then all you need to do is push in the new length of pipe (cut to the correct length) into the pumps outlet fitting then into the filters elbow push fitting. And then another length of pipe into the other side of the filter into the T-piece. Done! I think I've got this right and I hope this helps and makes sense . Just google John Guest 12mm push fittings and that should help you work out what's required. This was the easiest way to install the filter. It does mean that all water is filtered including to the shower. The main reason I did it this way so the water leading to the hot water system was also filtered so my morning coffee wouldn't take so long to boil 😁 I fill the tanks through a cheaper filter that you can get from BCF or supercheap auto. They just have hose fittings at either end. I filter into the tanks just as an extra precaution, when your on the road you cant be too careful. If you just fill from home or caravan parks it's probably not necessary. Cheers for the support mate! Let me know how you go Craig

Hi Dan, congrats on the new Robbo. I use a B.E.S.T. water filter, the install was pretty straightforward. The fittings required are John guest push fittings. I located the filter just after the discharge side of the pump and then reconnected the line out of the filter to the original fitting (prior to pump install). Thus will mean that all water is filtered, even the shower, but it also means that the hot water will be filtered, which I use for cooking and filling the coffee pot. I'll do a vid on it at some stage as I need to replace our filter soon. As for the bedding, we leave the sheets and blankets on but put the pillows on the floor hope this helps. Craig

Just google John Guest 12mm push fittings and that should help you work out what's required. This was the easiest way to install the filter. It does mean that all water is filtered including to the shower. The main reason I did it this way so the water leading to the hot water system was also filtered so my morning coffee wouldn't take so long to boil 😁

Goes well mate! We have camped a few times now in pretty heavy rain and it has not leaked a drop! We make sure we dry the canvas out really well before packing it away for an extended period of time and touch wood we have had no mould issues.

I just cannot fathom why designers provide single or double jerry can holders at the front that are not in a lockable compartment for security.

What is on top of fridge slide to allow for such a big fridge?
@RoaminintheRobbo
@RoaminintheRobbo Жыл бұрын
Hi Adam the main fridge slide on the 2021 model actually fits the 95lt without any mods, which is great! The spare fridge slide is alot smaller though.
