I love the G7(b9) to Cm7, and the Bb7(#11) to Am. Has that gorgeous R&B Gospel sound.

The reharm lessons are invaluable. Would you perhaps find time to comment a bit more on when to try inversions of the I-major? This is clearly a powerful technique, but it is less obvious when one might try to employ it. Or, to put it another way, is the power of the technique mostly in its useful exploitation of the bass line per se, or is there another music theory principle that can guide its use. I have to say that these harmony lessons are sufficient reason alone to join as an mDecks member. Thank you.

Thanks! I think, the bass should dictate almost everything. It is important to consider the melody against the bass, if you write bass lines that are consonant agains the melody (like 3rds of 6ths) you can get away with almost anything. Consider using inversions of any of the chords, not just the I chord. We have a great video on consonance in our Pat Metheny series: kzbin.info/aero/PLt-Oh3MSFwB_60i5NmCOMRc5klNwU56z4

Congratulations!!! I love your way of teaching. I loved that you did tutorials in Spanish. On the other hand, I would like to know what application you use to do your tutorials, I ask you as a piano teacher and to help my students. I also like your piano sound, it comes from the piano itself or from Logic, Protools, Kontak...?. Give me a hand if you can. Thank you!!!

Yes, I use adobe premiere for editing, logic pro and kontakt for the piano sound. And of course Mapping Tonal Harmony Pro :)

These lessons are outstanding. But, a question: At about 18:36, when approaching the 6 chord (Cmin) you use a G7#9 as it magically appears on the map. While I am trying to follow along in MTHPro, there is no combination of settings of "Style" and "Level" for which a G7#9 appears (theG7b9 does, of course). How did you generate the G7#9 as an option to consider, or should we simply assume that whenever there is a b9 suggested, one can assume that a #9 is ripe for testing? Or, am I simply missing something fundamental in understanding how to operate the map in MTHPro. Can't wait fo the next "Joy of Writing Chord Progressions" lesson. Again, just outSTANDing!.

To get a 7#9 chord you have to pair the chord with a scale that has the #9 (like the Major Blues Scale) Just right-click on the chord in the map to change the scale
