That is the face of poverty right next to a newly built home. It's sad that house was run down. It makes you wonder what their other family was doing that they couldn't help them out. We were poor growing up after the old man left. When I was 18 and got a job my first paycheck was used to buy a freezer and load up with food. My second paycheck, I remember going out and buying 10 gallons of Lucite house paint for $7.99 a gallon. I scraped each and every board by hand and then washed the house down so the paint would stick. I went all over the bare spots first and then gave it a thick coat of house paint. It looked like a new home when I was done. Growing up poor makes you appreciate things. No way would my parents have lived in that home without my help in keeping it up for them. May the R.I.P.. The house will probably get knocked down when it's sold. You did a great job in helping the neighborhood.

Yeah, this house took more than 2 years to fall into such disrepair. Some of the homes are more modest but the one next door is appears to be a newer build. Sometimes areas of blight are allowed to happen/continue unabated so the area can be redeveloped.

I happen to like the idea of, "They will not be forgotten." Thank you for introducing us to your memories of your friends, cleaning up their home when they can no longer do so, and honoring their memory. Nice work battling to overcome the overgrowth and to restore the line definition. It looks like they enjoyed being outdoors...a picnic table, chairs, a barbeque, some toys for children to play on. You left their front yard repaired, more suited to arriving home to a pleasant evening. Nice work cleaning the water culvert so the neighborhood won't flood.

Hard hard work for sure. The back is going to be an archeology lawn care ..BE CAREFUL AND STAY SAFE. Glad to see the masks. One does know (or let it sink in) what spores and dangers for the body lurks in that build up trash and deteriorating debris. Bless their hearts...so so sad.
