MDMA, Psychedelics Being Used To Help Trauma Survivors Heal

We sit down with the founder of Pinnacle Peak Recovery to talk about news making headlines: Kathy Griffin becomes an addict at age 59 - she wonders how can anyone become an addict at that age. She did and she almost took her life after a traumatic life experience. Also, researchers in the medical field want to use MDMA and other psychedelics to help trauma survivors heal. Our question: can you still call yourself sober if you use these drugs to heal?

23:00- I've always said that these kids never had a chance. My older sister was so concerned with my nephew's well being as far as school that she moved her family out to Cave Creek to a really nice area and the wealthiest kid was his best friend and his mother had an opiate pain pill prescription so they would steal her pills at a very young age and once that wasn't available anymore, the boys turned to heroin. They never had a chance. When I was a kid, it was weed and no doz. This March will be 4 years since he died from his first relapse in 2 years. He worked in recovery, he was active in recovery and had just got his 2 yr chip.. He had been in and out of rehab so many times and we thought he had it under control that maybe he could make it and the same weekend he was getting his buddy from school into rehab, he decided to use I guess. He had a lot of trauma and I don't know if he was working on any of it with a professional mental health support doctor. He was gone just like that. I think he would have benefited from psychedelics but they weren't available to him.
