Its sad to say many younger folk saw the remake first & thats their fave version. the hollywood big budget version. cause when they then see the original its not as polished or slick. which is what theyre used to seeing. A lot depends on what versions of films or songs you see/hear first.
@MickyB7621 күн бұрын
I couldn't agree more mate..the original Dawn of the Dead is my all time favourite zombie film hands down.I grew up watching George A Romero films who i believe created the zombie film genre with Dawn been the best and with one of the best lines ever spoken 'when there's no more room in hell..the dead will walk the earth'

@rahsaanbrown71908 жыл бұрын
I've gotten worn out with the zombie trend. If it ain't from Romero, Fulchi, Jackson, or O'Bannon, I'm not interested..
@rahsaanbrown71908 жыл бұрын
Fulci.
@kev3d8 жыл бұрын
+Rahsaan Brown Yeah, it's getting quite old. I keep wondering why in the hell the Walking Dead folks don't simply go somewhere that freezes during the winter. With all the wandering around and sulking, you'd think they could make their way north a few hundred miles. But of course, they want to drag it all out as much as possible.
@jameshughes53596 жыл бұрын
Very true! The 1970's really broke through the barriers when it came to Zombie films (of course Night of the Living Dead was the first seed in 68') but for me, Dawn of the Dead and Fulci's masterpiece of Zombie Flesh Eaters were just as good as it gets for Zombie fanatics. I thought the remake of Romero's Living Dead in 1990 was a decent effort and in terms of modern times for me my personal choice is The Dead (classic slow moving zombies) from 2010 , if no-one has seen this, its worth a go. But they just don't make them anymore like Romero and Fulci did . These zombie classics will forever have a cult following.
@eriklatta39376 жыл бұрын
James Hughes I know what you mean zombie movies and films don’t hold up compared to George a Romero or lucio fulci zombie movies my favorite out of the dead saga is dawn of the dead then day of the dead the night of the living dead then land of the dead in that order

Quite a few comments about age on here, mostly about Scott & David. Some people age as they get older and some don't as Ken and Gaylen prove. Some people age prematurely as well. It's just life. I am just glad the four main cast members are still alive and well.

I was 14 when the VCR boom happened and my circle of friends always talked about horror films. I kept hearing 3 of my friends mention Dawn of the dead. The cover of the box never really convinced me this was a good film so I passed on it multiple times. Till we had a sleep over and I got to see it. At first I thought the film was more humor than anything,the fat guy who falls into the fountain,the army solider zombie in the apartment complex,the weird nun in the mall,the freaky looking nurse,it all looked too goofy. But then you started to see how once you underestimated those things...thats how they would get you,their large numbers. And once they had you they'd tear you apart. It went from a humorous film to a oooooooh fuck what the hell was I thinking film...." Those things are slow,goofy,but once they got you it was savage. And to this day thats whats creepy about this movie,the things are dumb as hell but once they get you its not funny anymore. The characters,the mall, the memorable zombies, and the biker gang who also underestimated the zombies meet such a gory fate,its allot of film to watch again and again. Allot of great moments. I'm glad I got to see this when I was 14 and the vcr boom was going on, you would always hear from people who had vcrs about all the hidden gems that were out there, Dawn of the dead came out of nowhere and left a very creepy feeling when you got to the end of that film. . that movie left a long lasting impression on me. I still think about that film when I'm in a mall sometimes. its special to see them talking about this film here,and a relief to know theyre alive and doing conventions for the fans. I wish George Romero were still with us though. RIP.

Yeah they were great. I direct theatre and all of them do a good job. Emgee is reserved because I think he's not sure of himself, a guy full of doubt. Also, he doesn't seem like his character at all. Good actor, eh? Gaylen still seems like she has a more vivid imagination and eloquence. Maybe she partied less? Scott is considerably older. His performance was such a good counterpoint..as usual Romero was nailing the concept to your forehead...but as antic and impulsive as Emgee was reserved and calculating. David was an awesome Zombie. The performance had a terrific peak for all actors. Wonderful. Worth more than a great actor in some ways.

George Romero also said in "Document of the Dead" that they filmed both endings, but as far as i know, there isn't any footage of it in existence (or at least not available to the public). I did see a picture of the fake head online a long time ago, but that's about it...
