825gb is the usable storage. It is still 1tb, but it is partially for system software.

It’s 825GB because it uses ultra-fast 12 channel 512GB NAND chips. Do the byte maths and you end up at 825GB unformatted. To add more would have meant literally doubling it to 1.65TB, adding significant cost which I’m sure people wouldn’t have been pleased with either. So, 825GB it is, and for that you get the load speeds you do. Oh, and you shrunk your screen on setup because you didn’t read the instructions, hence why things looked zoomed out.
