Mollie shares her ME/CFS recovery story (& POTS symptoms recovery story) and the challenges of getting diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).
Like most spoonie stories, she got the old 'it's all in your head' when in hospital with cardiac symptoms which is how her illness started..
After over 4 years of illness, recovery or finding a cure for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis seemed unlikely and her only hope was some kind of spontaneous remission from ME/CFS.
Finally, she comes across an explanation for the cause of ME/CFS/POTS that makes sense to her and she throws caution to the wind and just goes for it.
To her surprise, she starts to make progress and begins her ME/CFS recovery journey.
The speed of her ME/CFS recovery was unusually fast, but 12 months after she felt cured of the illness, she shares her story and experience in this wonderful interview (took 12 months to get published)
She shares her thoughts about Graded Exercise Therapy and the difference in her approach, as well as many of the other strategies that she learned in the ANS REWIRE program.

Her story is so close to mine. Symptoms, doctors and length of illness. I had the nerve testing too. Sweating and chills, pins and needles, dry eyes, sensory sensitivities, abdominal issues, tachycardia, exhaustion, chest pain and weakness. The dizziness has kept me unable to take my son to school. I can’t sit very long either. I am unable to work. All my tests came back normal. The brain fog and cognitive dysfunction is serious. Her initial goals sounds just like mine. I am very grateful for her sharing her story. I am looking forward to normal grocery shopping soon one day.

This was really inspirational for me. I can really relate to Mollie and it's been just over 4 years for me so that gave me lots of hope. Thank you so much for this interview! Ps. Luckily there are only 2 shorter parts with background music and even though it is soft, I'm unable to tune it out and hear you talking, and makes my nervous system very heightened and anxious so would be great to have no background music at all for future recovery stories as usually the people listening to them are often struggling with these sensory issues too. Thanks again!

Hi Dan, could I ask you a favour? The videos are very long, and some of us are so sick, we don't have the energy to watch the whole video. Most of us watch your channel to learn how some me-patients manage to recover. So could you write in the info-box below exactly what each person did to improve, and which treatment(s) were the most efficient pertaining to full recovery? NB I have already read your book. Best regards - and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge - from Anna, Denmark
@CFSUnravelled1

I have had this request many times and totally understand where you are coming from. It's my opinion that it isn't about what people did to recover, so that's why I haven't actually created these summaries. Because you would see treatments or approaches that you have tried and didn't work! Instead, it's about HOW people engaged with various strategies. Now if they are in a program like ANS REWIRE, you can easily attribute it to that program and guidance, nonetheless, listening closely to how the person actually engaged in the program again is where the wisdom is. Does that make sense? What do you think?
@truthprevails7085
@truthprevails7085 5 жыл бұрын
CFS Unravelled That makes sense, but I would also like to know more about what worked for them-in the video. This one was great because of her description of how her daily dose your program worked for her. Most here are already seasoned enough to hear about something that did not work for them. Of course, it’s always a combination of strategies and I am glad to hear what didn’t work for that particular individual. Thank you so much for these videos, Dan!

Infact , the ppl who recovered will have to explain their details as they recovered from long term sickness. Its also making them so excited to give their sufferings as well as the effort put in to heal same. So i feel though we suffering should hv patience to listen, how they got it done..also which give natural feelings. Thanks

Wonderful interview Mollie! Thank you for sharing your story and all your pain so others can better understand the depths of these debilitating illnesses and their symptoms. My takeaway is the recognition of so many of my own symptoms and experiences that hadn't surfaced during my interview, like the necessesity to be alone when the body/mind had reached Max capacity, and that a person cannot even be in the same room because of the anticipation that interaction might be required. Also, the perspective you express about your process through such a dark time reflects the courage and strength that those of us with these illnesses demonstrate. It's easier to see that in someone other than yourself ;)

Thank you for your comment Claudia - yes, the experience is a bit like a trauma and part of us just doesn't want to remember does it!? Indeed the more distance we get from it all, the more our perspective changes.

Really inspiring interview. I'm curious about the resting in the afternoon... I got cfs 6 years ago and feel like I've been stuck at 60-80% for the past 2 years. I know a large part of that is due to past trauma and I am working with a counsellor on that but resting during the day used to stop me from sleeping later on so I cut it out a long time ago. I sometimes feel like I need it just don't know exactly what type helps as meditation is beneficial but not for that specific type of tired, napping makes me groggy and by the time my energy gets back up it's too high and I can't switch off etc

Building up a healing environment and scheduling rest time is an important aspect of recovery, but how that look is different for everyone. I really think it is important to go with your instinct and do what works for you, rather than trying to follow a one fits all formula.

Sorry, I can appreciate how frustrating it is. We all want a simple solution - however, there is no cure for this condition and so recovery results from addressing our personal triggers which varies between patients. Mollie used the ANS REWIRE education program which contains education on a range of physical strategies and brain-training strategies. We go into a lot of detail of her journey - I would have hoped it was clear what she did.

@CFS Unravelled for me it sounds like rambling. My attention span is short. Either that or my patience since I'm anxious over the many symptoms that I need relief from. Sounds to me that in order to get the real helpful stuff we need to enroll in the program? Can we do that online? I've been dealing with autoimmune since my 20s. I'm 60. Trust me when I say I've tried everything I thought possible to deal with this. Can we get straight to the point on what you have to offer for healing? That for me would be most helpful.
@CFSUnravelled1

I totally understand. Well, I think there is a lot of helpful stuff in the recovery interviews.. No, I don't think I can get straight to the point for healing because the illness is complex. The program is very expansive and detailed given the complexity of the illness, so probably not a good fit for you in the moment. However, if you can find a way to enjoy some of the interviews and other videos, hopefully the support you to move in the right direction. Sorry you're feeling frustrated, been there myself.
