James wondered if it was possible to tell Myalgic Encephalomyelitis(M.E.) recovery story or a POTS recovery story. You see, he had become a bit of a serial ME/CFS cure & POTS cure explorer - with little luck of course.
And whilst many things helped him a little, none were that magic solution that got rid of all his Myalgic Encephalomyelitis(M.E.) symptoms or his Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) symptoms. As he said, "When you are that desperate, you are not thinking rationally....everything sounds great when you have CFS” .
But after 8 years of suffering, his life had become even worse and he hit rock-bottom. “I couldn’t see a future for myself”. It was an understandable outlook for a young man whose life was in shambles and who had never experienced what it was like to be an adult and have normal health.
And against all odds, he then changed his approach, his outlook, his whole life and 9 months later he was recovered from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis(M.E.) and POTS.
What an inspiring young man, who shares his lessons and insights for anyone with ME/CFS or POTS.

What a fantastic interview! It's a very important message (paraphrased) "if it helps, even a little, keep doing it, then add on to it". We get so worn down by these conditions, so tired of missing out on 'normal' activities, that it can be very difficult to heap change upon change, abstention upon abstention, but that tactic makes a lot of sense. All the triggers for ME & Fibromyalgia - their affect isn't additive, it's multiplicative. That's why people get suddenly, massively ill. You don't notice you're on a negative exponential graph until the slope drops steeply. BUT, it sounds like the plus side is that improvements are multiplicative/exponential too. A kind of biological compounded interest.

+LavenderDojo Thanks for your comment. Yes, if you listen to all the recovery interviews, you will here this central theme for ME/CFS/Fibromyalgia recovery mentioned over and over again. You can see why I ended up blogging about it: cfsunravelled.com/a-central-strategy-for-recovery-from-fibromyalgia-mecfs/

Indeed, I meet people almost every week who simply don't feel comfortable sharing their story of recovery from ME/CFS/Fibromyalgia. It is all very personal, so I can appreciate and respect their decision. It makes these interviews all the more special. Have you watched many of the other recovery interviews?

I wonder why some people are uncomfortable sharing while others aren't. I wish I could feel comfortable talking but I've gone deeper hiding in a hole due to people's reactions. I thought maybe once you're stronger you can handle it more.

Hi Dan, I'm so happy to have found your channel here. I hope to learn and overcome. I still have hope. My process began in 2008, and got better, but then was exposed to mold and had a relapse. I lived on a balcony for almost a year and I have moved 5 times in 4 years to find a safe space. I'm moving again as soon as I find the next right place. My current place has mold! I have only been here for 3 months. Anyway...maybe you can interview me one day soon! Blessings

Well, these are real challenges for sure. However, many of the strategies for recvoery are not expensive and don't involve supplments etc. They are often lifestyle and brain training strategies.

Thanks for replying. I am subscribed to your initial 4-5 videos, still waiting for the second. What is your overall suggestion for a "newcomer"? Should one enroll in your program? Seek health professionals in the area according to the principles of your program? (I just recently discovered with amazement, that all of my multiple pains, aches in joints, muscles, in the head - all stem from the enlarged intestines that I carry around like a bag, while I am thin overall, and can't gain weight. So, it might be diskinesya/atonia, but not sure of the reason for that, perhaps stress induced hormonal changes).

You always need to have new symptoms investigated and work with your MD. Hopefully once you have watched the intro series you will be able to get your head around how to strucutre your recovery. It's all about tailoring approach and focussing on the root mechanism, never about some magic cure. You will hear this time and time again in all the recovery interviews! :)

soo many things i forgot to mention grr! another one, during the early years, was being given rounds of antibiotics for ACNE! anyone with any knowledge of this subject will know how ridiculous this is. This no doubt played a role in my decline in health too. My gut was being completely destroyed by antibiotics (when i had no infection) whilst eating a diet filled with sweets, coca cola, cakes, refined foods etc. My gut flora was in really poor shape. so many different things contributed to my long time with chronic illness.. to believe i could recover from one thing alone was niave to say the least

+Health Recovery Indeed - gut health is really important for our well-being and modern science is only now starting to glimpse the sympbiotic benefits between us and our gut bacteria. The impact on the immune system of good gut flora is profound! Thanks again for your wonderful interview!

I struggle with this. Everyone wants me to take all these drugs (antiobiotics, etc) and they act like they're completely harmles and I'm foolish for saying no. I start to feel like I should take them and that I'm just being negative or catastrophizing, or that my life would've turned out better if I had just taken all these drugs. Not to mention that it's embarrassing to deal with all these people who are mad at me for not taking drugs, have no sympathy because I'm not on the drugs etc.

One of the most important things is not to question the validity of her symptoms. Also giving her hope by showing her the recovery interviews could be helpful: cfsunravelled.com/cfs-fibro-recovery-stories/

hi Dan, if u reocver say 50% in 3 months and u have a relapse are u still at 50 or 0 percent??
@CFSUnravelled1
@CFSUnravelled1 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Farzin - that's a complex question that really needs a bit more detail to answer and ultimately will never be fully accurate. However, I would say it largely depends on HOW you made that progress. I have seen people with these set-backs that made progress by addressing the root ANS dysfunction, and so the symptoms don't reflect their progress and they often bounce back very quickly - ie. the progress is real, the set-back temporary. However, when the progress is made primarily through avoiding things that cause symptoms and by symptom treatment, then depending on what symptoms were treated, the progress perceived may only have been temporary. Sorry not to give a more simple answer.

What's the single practice that changed his life? The picture is so clickbaitey. Please keep in mind: people with chronic FATIGUE are watching. Don't let us watch a 50 min video in the hope of getting something useful out of it, but also perhaps wasting our scarce energy. Please write in the description what the 'single practice that changed his life' is, so we can decide if it might be relevant and worth it to us. And make summaries please. Make it easier and less exhausting for us.
@CFSUnravelled1

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate what you are saying - it's hard to know how to best encourage people to watch these videos. The problem is that everyone is focussed on a single strategy or 'magic fix' when in fact we need to broaden our approach - that's why I encourage people to watch the full interviews. Summaries don't tell the story, because if you look at people who recovered, they often did all the stuff we tried without success - it's always in the detail! I will try to do better.
