I'm back. Hahaha I thought of this, back in the early 90's when all that Top 40, happy meal type of music started to be played on the country music stations as it is now, one day I was with my grandad driving around. Incidentally, this song came on the radio. Out of nowhere, after being quite for hours, he piped up and said, " Now this here a country song! ". Hahaha I just grinned and kept driving. Hahaha

Thanks for the comment, I didn't think 90s country was all that bad, lots of good stuff, AJ, Randy T, King George, etc. I think for me it jumped the shark with Big N Rich, "coming to your cit-tayy", 😞

This is a great medley that wells up emotions for me. It was a great time in country music history. I was born 1 year before Marty and my family was right in the middle of it. As a young boy in the 60's and early 70's, I didn't appreciate the historical significance of it all. That environment was 2 country music parks and a country store that had live performances on a stage in the back with a radio station that also broadcast live from 2 of those venues. My aunt, Ola Belle Reed, wrote "High on a Mountain ". It is personal for me because I transcribed it, as well as other originals of her songs, to sheet music using graph paper, a straight edge, and a drafting pencil. High on a Mountain was originally performed as a bluegrass and folk song. Marty"s country music version is my favorite Also the only one to sell over a million copies and receive a Gold record.

Yeah, I heard this whole thang very 1st time it played on my car radio and I had ta pull over cause the DJ introed it as "the last song that Hank ever wrote..." being High on a Mountain Top. I bawled like a widow and do everytime I hear it even now and its 28 years later. I would want just High on a Mountain Top played at my funeral but I'm not having one. No I plan ta donate my body ta our Body Farm in Little Rock Arkansas where I was born. I do this for 2 reasons: 1st because I want to help victimed loved ones find their departed ones when they go missing for good and I'm just weak flesh with a strong spirit. Thank you for uploading this ta KZbin and God's Will in your life and those around you. IN JESUS' NAME AMEN

Many "country" stations in the West coast would only play the 2nd track (High on a mountain top) but never the first part. That was most likely because the first half of the song acknowledged the existance of Hank Williams
@nashburnette9 жыл бұрын
+renoguard2 That's because "High on a Mountain Top" was released as the album's 3rd single, and it made the Country top-25.
@cornfieldsurfboardwithbran79775 жыл бұрын
What the hell does west coast have to with it? Stations skipped the intro because it was so long. I worked at one and we’d play both. The long version was frowned on only because of time.
