Adam Ben Ezra is a double-bass player and a multi-instrumentalist born and raised in Tel Aviv. His mission is to bring the double-bass to the 21st century: from background and accompaniment instrument to the dominant front-presence it deserves. Thanks to his ability to move from one instrument to the other during his performances, Adam creates a unique atmosphere combining jazz, rock and world music with a sweeping, fascinating and visionary sound. He shared the stage with Noa and with some of the biggest fusion musicians including Pat Metheny, Richard Bona, Mike Stern, Victor Wooten. With his KZbin channel boasting close to ten million views, it is clear that Adam is a star on the web. His debut album “Can’t Stop Running” showcases not just a virtuoso performer, but also a sensitive composer with no musical boundaries, as confirmed also in his brand new solo album “Pin Drop”. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

He should have performed this thing near a music loving audience. It's a pity that this audience is not admiring his work. He deserves more applause!!

I don't know as he's there to generate applause so much as to teach... and encourage the audience not to limit their imaginations.

Thanks, Adam, for all you're doing to make the bass a solo instrument, inspiring new bassists like myself with the possibilities.

Kinda disappointed he basically didn't touch the classical side of the instrument at all. Believe it or not, there actually is a somewhat vast repertoire for the double bass!

Yeah, but I’m not saying this doesn’t take skill because i know it does. However he’s not actually using the pure form of the bass he is using tone modifications. If he could do that with the pure bass then i would be amazed

Jason G No, Like pedals, and stuff like that. You couldn’t make those sounds with a acoustic bass. He has an electric acoustic bass. So he can modify the sounds. Like look at all the pedals and pads by his feet. I just dont want people getting a bass because they think they can make all the sounds so easily, but In reality unless they have the money and time they cant.

Once I had the chance to take part to a wedding party in Egypt. I was surprised to see how modern their ''pop'' music was. There was also a DJ behind the desk a sort Armin van Buuren of Hurghada. Sooner or later the Oriental tones and rhythms will get mixed with the western beat.
