Lovely voice- for such a young soprano you have an almost mezzo-like richness in your lower register. Great job - the. E flat was amazing, especially since you practically pulled it out of nowhere without the cadenza! Would love to see you perform this charming role onstage.

Inés de Erausquin I think it would almost be easier to hit the Eb without the cadenza because 1. melodically it’s easier 2. If you’re jumping from Eb5 to Eb6, you already have the note in your head. (Then again, I don’t identify as a “coloratura;” I’m not a huge fan of long/complicated runs.) I think it was wise of her voice instructor to cut it, and honestly I like it better without it. 😆

I just returned from seeing a performance of "Pirates of Penzance" at the Ohio Light Opera and I just had to hear this song one more time before I turn off the lights. Bravo! You have a very lovely voice and I hope you have been able to continue singing in the years since this was recorded. Again, very well done!!!

This is absolutely stunning! I searched for this song because as a kid I heard it in the background of a scene in An American Tale. A distant memory from my childhood. I always loved the melody and the ladies voice. A friend told me the name after I recited what I could remember. I digress; I heard this and was not only mesmerised but nearly in tears. and it takes a lot for me to well up. stunning and beautiful. Thankyou

I am truly astounded that a voice such as that came from someone so young! With continued training I can easily see you excelling and having a place on the big stages. I am 26 and just about to attempt this song with my voice teacher and cannot wait to sing it after listening to your rendition. Keep up the wonderful work!!

I performed the part of Mabel in my school's production of the Pirates of Penzance, and I thought i had watched all the videos of others' performances and renditions of this piece so as to cultivate and improve upon my performance and make it seem inspired and powerful, but i was not impressed with anyone's performance but Linda Ronstadt's. But i just discovered yours, and oh my god, you have one of the largest ranges i have ever seen, and your vibrato is incredibly beautiful. And those trills at the end are extremely challenging, but you nailed them. And that high note at the end, i had to work for months to be able to rest on that note for half the time that you did. Truly incredible performance!!

+Christine Daaé How long did it take you to get strong of a head voice and that finesse on your soprano notes? I heard it takes a LONG time, but you obviously have done it. You should definitely think about music schools if you're interested; I'm sure you'd get all the financial aid packages you'd want!
@christinedaae19868 жыл бұрын
Faith Robinson That's very good of you, but UI still have to work on it. But what helps is that when I do my vocal warmups, I go as high as I can and I do several exercises in the top of my voice. It helps to get you comfortable up there and once you have strengthened it and feel solid, maybe you can go even higher! :) Just be careful and don't hurt yourself. I hope this was of some service.

Fine voice and musicianship, but you should pay a little attention to the floor of your mouth and the back of your tongue which sounds a little too tight, not least in your speaking voice

I look forward to following your further development here. Your middle voice suggests that you are not really a coloratura, but a lyric with a flexible top :-)
@carlykucharek28029 жыл бұрын
This is such a wonderful piece. The opera is set on the coast of Cornwall which is in the UK. You sound to American when you sing this. I would work on lengthening your vowels to first off, help with all your pieces and sound less American, and second to really get a rounded rich sound. On the first round of "Ah"s, you seem to attack the high notes. It is suppose to be very light and free. Try lifting the soft pallet more and imagine the sound coming from your forehead and not your mouth. During the staccato part, the grace notes you added in are lovely but make your intonation go right out the window. Tr losing the grace notes all together. In the original score there are none and it sounds better that way. Your trill was on the wrong notes. Either that or you were royally flat. If you were planning to go all the way up to the E, you should have done the cadenza. Making that big of a jump did not sound good. Also, when attempting that high note you have to think big full rich sound. You were very breathy and strident and it sounded like you were trying way to hard. All and all it was a nice performance but you lack basic training and technique when singing an aria. To strident and American sounding. Try choosing lower key pieces. You have a beautiful middle range. But your top half is not quite there. It is a hard piece for a high school so good on you for trying.
@christinedaae19869 жыл бұрын
I lack "basic training?" Maybe this was not my best performance, but you have no idea what you are talking about. I have been studying for years and I do too have the range to sing this. I was so nervous that I was shaking because the room was packed with people, most of whom I did not know. My upper range is actually just as strong as my lower range and I can go all the way up to a F#6 with ease. I have perfect pitch, too. My voice teacher, who is an opera singer, told me I do. Yes, I know that "Pirates" is set in England. I really love it and I've seen it twice. I can speak in an English accent so well that I can convince people that I am English. Again, I was really nervous and my performance is NOTHING to what it could have been. My nervousness used to be crippling sometimes, but I have gotten over that now and the only nervousness I feel is the desire to perform well and excitement, of course. At the time, I was also singing the Jewel Song from the opera "Faust" and my voice teacher knows I am ready to sing this stuff. I appreciate the constructive criticism that you tried to give me at first, but when you told me that I lacked training, I checked out. I really do appreciate constructive criticism, but I do not appreciate being told things that are not true. If you are also a singer, I would be more than happy to talk music sometime and I would love to hear you. But if you respond to this telling me yet again that I lack training, you are not only insulting me, you are insulting my teacher. She knows what she is doing. Again, thank you for the constructive criticism, and I hope you sleep well (it is getting late).

Although I agree that there were a few intonation issues I have to disagree on your comment about her tone: we seem to want to sound like 30 year olds as far color go because that is what "operatic" sound demands. But young singers will not be able to produce such a sound in a healthy way... If she's advised to producer bigger darker sounds at this age she will end up manufacturing them and potentially hurting her voice. Even mature high sopranos have very lyric light voices, let alone very young ones. She has a great foundation of technique a nice middle voice. Congratulation!

Carly Guzman, you come off as very judgmental and i hope you realize your advice is very off base. I think this young lady is very talented. your criticism is hardly constructive and comes off as snobbish.
