It doesnt happen like that. The projectile falls back at terminal velocity which is much lower than muzzle velocity

You know that Terminal velocity is different for every object right? Its not a speed limit? Therefore terminal velocity for a bullet is still going to be enough to fucking kill you.

@william69952 the thinnest part of your skull is 3.5mm, which is around your temple, the terminal velocity of a 30 caliber bullet is 90m/s, and as you mentioned it only takes 60m/s to pierce human skin... so while the chances are low, you can still potentially suffer significant damage if your were to be hit in the head by a falling bullet in the right spot
