Ah shit, as soon as I saw you jump I knew that pain. I've had non-inflammatory arthritis in my lower back since I was about 13 years old, and what you say about "picking up a piece of paper" is so freaking true. It's not about what you're doing, it's just your back suddenly deciding to stop being a back for a while. Argh! Glad you're feeling better, Steve! Skeletor is EPIC!

Awesome box man! Someone mentioned doing a collab with Doug from SoundmanCA, I agree. I have a question, other than potential safety reasons, why didn't you use a custom white cable instead of red for the internal cables? You spent a ridiculous amount of time on the black and white box, then there's red cables visible from your beautiful windows. Anyone working on it would have known what it was. Was there a reason, or just didn't mind it?
@meade9166 жыл бұрын
no need for custom white and black 8ga cables. Red and black looks good to me.

Why don’t you use bootlace crimps on the end is it going to the speakers are far better connection
@mikeworkman35935 жыл бұрын
You should NEVER use a connector on the end of a circuit if you don't have to. Every crimp is just room for resistance. Those are designed to allow speaker wire to be inserted directly into them. Even on amps or crossovers where there is a screw terminal, people are tempted to use a spayed connector. But the best way is to simply strip the end of the wire and push it under the hold down and tighten. I've been installing systems since 1991, and I was taught by the best type installers. They also knew how to repair electronics. Those guys were old school, if they had a head unit fry out, they didn't return it or toss it out, they took it apart and repaired the board inside with a new audio chip. Even Steve does some things that I wouldn't do, but I know it's for looks and not function, and that's ok. But for something like the speaker hookups, you can't see that.

Another awesome build Steve!! Sure it might have taken a while to get to the end results, however, it was much quicker then ANY box that Doug dude over at Soundman builds :-). What LED strips and controller are you using that your confident will handle that bass? There are so many cheap ones out that either don't stick, light burn out after a few weeks or the BT controller only works at 5 feet away. thanks, cheers!
