I prefer to see Meades marching about the locations and interacting with them in strange ways. I love the door slamming in Prora and how he turns off the Nazi speech in Jerry Building

Factual error at 42:55 regarding the neo-Herrerian Universidad Laboral de Gijón/former orphanage/Spain's biggest building. It is in Asturias, not in "Franco's native Galicia".

Seems so. Are the two region's 'architectural vernacular' similar?
@davefowler35104 жыл бұрын
@@maudeeb To be fair to Meades, he may have been referencing the historical 10th Century Kingdom of Asturias, which included Galicia and parts of the Basque Country. But to answer your question, I would suggest Asturias has few major architectural differences with Galicia, but more so with the Basque region.
@brentryan26663 жыл бұрын
@@maudeeb no, they are not. Galicia (where I am resident) has a vernacular of whitish granite, whereas Asturias has a vernacular that more resembles the rest of Spain, with a yellowish limestone and stucco. Compare the old cities of Santiago de Compostela and Gijon to see the difference.

A big thank you for posting this video, as BBC iPlayer wrongly informed me that it had months of viewing left, but since re-downloading again to my new iPhone I found it to be unavailable.

In his views - Meades seems almost dogmatic...
@realityisanalog9 ай бұрын
Plain speaking. stripped of jargon (see "Meades on Jargon" ) and it's cousin the comfortable emotive often elicits such a response -ergo: What went ye out into the internet / BBC 4 to see? A reed shaken with the wind?✌🏼✅👍

Meades is anything but dogmatic.

Mr Meades makes the common mistake of confusing belief in the life of the spirit and the earthly controlling power of organised religion. Which as he points out is manipulative drivel for the gullible.
