@belisariusorb Well...if she was pissed it might explain her passionate leading characters who challenge the world...even if they do struggle in the context of propriety and the 'amorous effects of brass'. Anyway Meades needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. Its all very tongue in cheek. If you were to observe all his strictures you would never be in the right. The character gets the best of both worlds through pretension and even he is pursuing a tainted 'nostalgia' in his opinion of Burton.
