Should I still grinding it to the absolut perfection ? Thank you..

Thanks Dave. I made no.1 bow. Turned out great (first bow). I followed the 40# dimensions but ended up with a 53 pounds. I noticed all other recipes indicate 0.040 glass rather than 0.050 in recipe 1, could this be the reason? Thanks again, great fun. Dan

Hi. I do have calipers. I now think my bamboo is stiffer, 0.08 (2mm) from a laminated sheet (rather than single slats). Overall thickness is 7mm/0.27in I have more of the same material and will try to get a light bow for my son using 30mm-20mm-11mm. Super fun. Thanks again Dave for making the whole process accessible. You helped me realise the uniqueness of every bow made rather than the correctness of one way or another. 👍👍👍🙏

For the horse bow style, you mention 7.5” siyahs. Looking at your video, the tapered ends of the siyahs appear to reach the bend of the form to meet the end of the working portion of the limb (they even curl a tiny bit). Am I interpreting this correctly? If so, I am going to have to make my siyahs longer to accomplish this and still make the far bend to support the nock area. Could you please advise? Thanks!

You don't have to. But if you have extra length and room go ahead. Then all you have to do is cut it down when you take it off the form

Are the fibreglass laminations of equal thickness on both sides? And to lower the poundage, would you only decrease the thickness of the fibreglass, the timber core, or a combination of both?
@alexandrugajin763
@alexandrugajin763 Жыл бұрын
You have to experiment alot to understand the limit of a material. Basicly the thicker the core the more poundage you add to the bow but then the more stress you add on the fiberglass. Belly is compression side, back is tension. You would want carbon fiber on the belly because is more strong in compresion. Glass is stronger than carbon in tension. So you want glass on the back. You have to experiment and break many bows untill you understand what you need, how much and where. And i mean like literally intentionaly break bows, this is the only way you can achive a bow to reach it's full capability up to the point of breaking. And then you make it slightly beefier and that's it. If you make both sides fiberglass, the belly should be thicker, fiberglass is not that strong in compresion. In his design, if you want to lower the pundage, simple grind the edges of the limbs more, make them more narrow.

Hmm…don’t think you want that stuff in your eggs or veggies or ground water either mate. Think you need a room with dust suction for that phase of the process. That said. Awesome man.
