It is the voice for sure. We love the accent and it is different from certain regions. I had a dear friend from Dumfries and you sound just like her. Also we like seeing the products you purchase and the prices comparing to here in Canada. Your down to earth cooking and family life helps to know how much we are the same all over the world. Thank you for all your hard work and connecting to so many people all over the world. Sincerely Shelley

Why I subscribe - my dad is originally from Scotland (Portree) and your accent is very familiar and comforting. I enjoy listening to your recipes and ideas for cooking, which (along with your accent) sound very similar to my own late gran. Besides that, I appreciate your honesty and humility in the food that you prepare.

Your calming voice, charming accent ( yes, I'm from the US, living in Pittsburgh, which has one of the worst accents in America), your sense of humor, the scenery, and I'm a food lover, so it is great seeing the new to me products you buy/use and the same brands available to me in my grocery stores. @@WaysideArtist I grew up just outside of New York City, so that was my accent until moving to Erie for college. Quickly learned to tone down my NY accent since a majority of people could not understand what I was saying. Fortunately, after 25 plus years in Pittsburgh, I haven't picked up this accent. I do have to agree, that Philadelphia does have a distinct accent. My nephew now lives there and has a begun to "speak like a local"!

The voice certainly is part of it. But for me it is also the spontaneity of finding out "what's for tea." Everything you cook looks so comforting, and because I live by myself, comfort food is never spontaneous for me. I do not eat food like you make unless I make it. Your videos remind me of coming home on a cold night when I was a child and learning what was for dinner. I forgot how much I missed that until I found your videos.

It transcends time and distance. It can take home, it can take you on holiday, it can take you to a completely different time. And your sweet voice and gentle ways make my heart very happy. I love trying your recipes because they are simple yet delicious and very comforting. I live in the Northeast of the US and I love your soup and pie recipes in the winter. Its quite inspiring watching someone else cook. New ideas for the menu, new ways of doing things, new ways to combine things all within the range of what we eat here I suppose. The most important reason for choosing to stay with you on this channel is that your recipes actually come out the way they do when you cook them, because they are authentic - not always the case with other channels. Also because you sound like a nice humble girl, you never big headed over what you do, even though you do it so well. Thankyou for all the lovely vids.

I got here by reading a romance novel! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 SERIOUSLY! Maybe I better explain. I'm old 👵 grew up in a tiny isolated mountain camp ( think village) in the 1960s we had a small library and they had a lot of mystery novels from the UK so UK authors became my favorite authors. I rarely read romances but it was during Thanksgiving 2019 my sister left a romance paperback when she came for a visit for a few days. I ran out of things to read then remembered, the book in the guest bedroom night table! As it was set in Scotland I thought I might enjoy it. A studly man in a kilt and a mention of a dish called stovies and oatcakes. And I found this channel when I went in search for a traditional Scottish dish called stovies and oatcakes! 🤣 I stayed because my heritage is southern appalachian and we have a stong connection to the Scots in this area and you sound like home. There is certain words you pronounce that just sound like home and family to me. ❤️

I looked at that old el paso kit today but didn't think it would be any good but I'll definitely get it in the future now because it looks so tasty and easy enough for me to make it lol. I can't remember if I heard someone mentioning your channel or if I found you through your comments on my videos lol but I love watching you. There's not many of us Scots on here and you are so humble and down to earth yet make amazing content. I even watch recipes I know I'll never be able 5o make lol. You know how much I appreciate the support you give me too ☺ x

I'm gonna make a pork shoulder in my Instant Pot pressure cooker. I bought it with the plan that it would be the filling for enchiladas but I have hunted all over and cannot find enchilada sauce ANYWHERE near me! I'm going to make them into pulled pork quesadillas instead which will be yummy, too! Heather in Canada xo

I love the voice. And the ideas for dinner, even though I am here in Southern California. We love SCOTLAND. My daughter would move there in a heartbeat!

I subscribed because I find your voice very soothing and although you're Scottish, it still reminds me of my grandparents' Irish accent in a way. My husband's family is from Scotland and we've travelled all over the U.K. so the scenery brings back memories. We've had many of the dishes you prepare and we eat many of the same things although for some reason, we call it Shepherd's Pie even though it's made with beef, not lamb, here. I am really looking forward to you possibly making Treacle Scones. When we stayed in Taynuilt, Scotland, we would go to Robin's Nest and buy so many treacle scones that they started to limit our purchases because there weren't enough for the locals and they were getting annoyed with us. 😂 I know, it was shameful of us. It was an addiction. Thank you for your posts, from Ontario, Canada.

I watch you every week because ...Now I am living in USA for 30 years and I grew up in Africa with parents of English and Scottish/Irish descent . I missed this kind of food . A year ago I searched cottage 🥧 and you came up and I've been watching you every week ever since.. just so wonderful.. I needed simple and easy meals to cook for myself and I wanted real and good comfort food

I love seeing what ppl eat across the world. So I watch you and Japanese, German, Indian, Canadian, and general cooking or travel shows. i kind of find it difficult now because I have so many allergies that I can't eat even simple dishes. Oh, and Turkish channels!! So many tomatoes!! And gorgeous egg dishes with tomatoes! Yes, icyw, I am allergic to eggs AND tomatoes now.

Hi lovely, I subscribed because you don't faff about. I automatically glaze over when I hear "get the processor out and blend the 25 spices or herbs" that finishes me! You do "bish, bosh, bash" lol fantastic! You have no airs or graces and feel to me like you're just like the rest of your watchers, ordinary folk just trying to get on with life, thankyou ❤

I subscribed a couple of years ago. I am from the 🇺🇸 and I love seeing the differences between our groceries. I enjoy your meals of the week and the weekly recipes; as they give me inspiration for our meals I like that you put videos of Scotland at the end of your videos. Scotland is on our bucket list. Hoping to come there in 2023, if the world opens up. 🤞Of course, your accent is soothing and just makes the videos that much more fun. 😊

Cheryl, your chips are far, far better than the saggy, soggy chips you get in chippies! Or the frozen ones that you cook in the oven, which are always dry!! Can you please come and cook some for us? Well, when international borders open again to Australia anyway!!! By the way, we call them swedes, but my Mother, being Welsh, always called them 'swedgians', which is what I call them, but the family know what I mean! Oh, and, I love your voice and the 'old school' meals I always loved and enjoyed as a child in Wales!

Mmmm, these are making me hungry now! As for why I subscribed, I suppose it was partly the voice at first (just so lovely to listen to), but I've stayed because I always feel happier after watching one of your videos. There's something about your personality, which comes through so beautifully, and the whole presentation style and content that just feels like being at home with family. For someone who's been away from home and separated from family due to the pandemic, it's like a warm hug watching your videos. Not sure I can explain why exactly that's true or what makes it so, but it is. Plus, they always give me good ideas to try for new meals that don't seem too difficult to tackle when I'm pressed for time or as just a regular home cook. Thanks for always bringing some extra light into my day. God bless :)
