Oh no! My Philadelphia accent is much worse. One of my dearest, oldest friends is from the greater Pittsburgh area. I miss hearing her speak. Of course we rib each other over the pronunciation of "orange." 🍊😂

@@WaysideArtist I grew up just outside of New York City, so that was my accent until moving to Erie for college. Quickly learned to tone down my NY accent since a majority of people could not understand what I was saying. Fortunately, after 25 plus years in Pittsburgh, I haven't picked up this accent. I do have to agree, that Philadelphia does have a distinct accent. My nephew now lives there and has a begun to "speak like a local"!

Everything you cook looks so comforting, and because I live by myself, comfort food is never spontaneous for me. I do not eat food like you make unless I make it. I got here by reading a romance novel! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 SERIOUSLY! Maybe I better explain. I'm old 👵 grew up in a tiny isolated mountain camp ( think village) in the 1960s we had a small library and they had a lot of mystery novels from the UK so UK authors became my favorite authors. I rarely read romances but it was during Thanksgiving 2019 my sister left a romance paperback when she came for a visit for a few days. I ran out of things to read then remembered, the book in the guest bedroom night table! As it was set in Scotland I thought I might enjoy it. A studly man in a kilt and a mention of a dish called stovies and oatcakes. And I found this channel when I went in search for a traditional Scottish dish called stovies and oatcakes! 🤣 I stayed because my heritage is southern appalachian and we have a stong connection to the Scots in this area and you sound like home. There is certain words you pronounce that just sound like home and family to me. ❤️

@@eileenmc8808 In my neck of the woods Saturdays was British day. Our PBS broadcast came out of Roanoke. Saturday nights were British comedies, but at 4 in the afternoon it was Mystery theater! I worked in a garment factory between 1979 to 93 and every Saturday morning I worked like a madwoman so all my housework would be done by 4 o'clock so I could relax and watch Mystery. I can still hear (on my mind)the sound of the tied lady with the scarf! Best intro of any show, ever. My husband still refers to me as "she who must be obeyed" LOL

I subscribed because I find your voice very soothing and although you're Scottish, it still reminds me of my grandparents' Irish accent in a way. My husband's family is from Scotland and we've travelled all over the U.K. so the scenery brings back memories. We've had many of the dishes you prepare and we eat many of the same things although for some reason, we call it Shepherd's Pie even though it's made with beef, not lamb, here. I am really looking forward to you possibly making Treacle Scones. When we stayed in Taynuilt, Scotland, we would go to Robin's Nest and buy so many treacle scones that they started to limit our purchases because there weren't enough for the locals and they were getting annoyed with us. 😂 I know, it was shameful of us. I subscribed a couple of years ago. I am from the 🇺🇸 and I love seeing the differences between our groceries. I enjoy your meals of the week and the weekly recipes; as they give me inspiration for our meals I like that you put videos of Scotland at the end of your videos. Scotland is on our bucket list. Hoping to come there in 2023, if the world opens up. 🤞Of course, your accent is soothing and just makes the videos that much more fun. 😊

Cheryl, your chips are far, far better than the saggy, soggy chips you get in chippies! Or the frozen ones that you cook in the oven, which are always dry!! Can you please come and cook some for us? Well, when international borders open again to Australia anyway!!! By the way, we call them swedes, but my Mother, being Welsh, always called them 'swedgians', which is what I call them, but the family know what I mean! Oh, and, I love your voice and the 'old school' meals I always loved and enjoyed as a child in Wales!

Mmmm, these are making me hungry now! As for why I subscribed, I suppose it was partly the voice at first (just so lovely to listen to), but I've stayed because I always feel happier after watching one of your videos. There's something about your personality, which comes through so beautifully, and the whole presentation style and content that just feels like being at home with family. For someone who's been away from home and separated from family due to the pandemic, it's like a warm hug watching your videos. Not sure I can explain why exactly that's true or what makes it so, but it is. Plus, they always give me good ideas to try for new meals that don't seem too difficult to tackle when I'm pressed for time or as just a regular home cook. Thanks for always bringing some extra light into my day. God bless :)
