Cute idea on the ham and pineapple slices. Kroger had Smithfield bone in hams for .99 lb. I got a 10 lb ham and had the meat cutter slice it into ham steaks (7) and then split the bone down the middle for two pots of beans down the road. One ham steak will feed the 3 of us so we’ll get a lot of meals from the $10,ham. Happy Easter. 🥰🥰

One year I had three 19year olds and they had THE MOST fun with their baskets- an egg hunt would’ve been hysterical, fun and vicious! That was a year that Walmart organized their Easter candy by color and it made baskets really easy! I probably would have made an Easter Egg Hunt rule that they could only collect their own color, with a few “wild card” colors thrown in to make it interesting. Our “egg fight” game was traditionally called “Uppers, Uppers” by Grampa, born in 1910. He was a champion and by dinner time had won and confiscated most of the eggs.

We always do potato salad for Easter too. We do mayo and a bit of mustard, diced onion and sweet relish. I also enjoy dill potato salad with sour cream, a bit of mayo and tons of dill. (Season to taste with garlic and onion powder). This is a fun menu. I think the bruschetta idea is a fun one. If you can wait until after Easter, you may find the bone in hams for 25 cents a lb. Last year, I got 3 hams for 25 cents a lb. It was something like 30 lb for 10 bucks.

In today's sale paper (Kroger, in Michigan) bone-in ham (not spiral) $.79 a pound if you send $25 additional at the store. Not 4.30 a pound, but still worth it to spend like $6.00 for 6 pounds of meat and a stock bone for bean soup! Also, the carrot peels would go well in the ham/bean soup. Finally, i wish you had used just a little fresh grated carrot cake, just because you could :)

I don’t understand why you didn’t cut the potatoes into uniform pieces before you boiled them. I’m not criticizing, I was just wondering why. Sliced ham with pineapple is genius. With potato salad I always grate a dill pickle and maybe add a little bit of the pickle juice to the potatoes. Your sons are absolutely darling. I had five daughters, plus gained two step daughters when they were in their teens; if you’re doing the math that is seven daughters. The cost of weddings!!! OMG!! I’ve heard that sons have a special bond with their mothers and are very protective
@MealsWithMaria2 жыл бұрын
Hmm I’m not sure the exact reason, except the recipe my mom always uses has you boil the potatoes whole. I guess it’s really a family tradition 🤪 I’m very blessed to be a boy mom, it’s true 🙏 and you are blessed to be a girl mom 🥰

@MealsWithMaria2 жыл бұрын
I’d get the big bag of smarties and jelly beans are also cheap! Kids love that stuff. It’s also fun to put loose change in the eggs, if you have it! They get so excited about a few coins! I’ve never done an egg hunt that large. I feel like 10 per kid is right but that’s a lot of eggs!!! It’s a good idea to tell them they each get x amount and once they find that many they can help the others gather theirs 😀 keeps them from fighting

There is only me in the household and I often purchase a Ham slice around 8 ounces and it feeds me 3 meals. I love ham but adding yummy side dishes helps to stretch the ham. I do this with most proteins. I had two good size Chicken drumsticks. I used one to make a meal with sides. I used some of the second one to make a Chicken Soup. The rest of the meat will be used in a third meal. The soup made 3 portions so I was able to really get alot of bang for my buck 😋
