To try and clarify confusion, this is not a remake/reboot of the original film. This is an movie adaptation of the Broadway musical. I understand that some people may not know that cause I've been seeing most of that hate towards this film based on that misconception. I feel like the trailer should have shown off the musical aspect of this film since thats the biggest change and I don't understand why they would hide that. Also please do not be discriminatory or racist towards the actors. Just because the cast isn't all white like it was in the 2004 film doesn't make it automatically bad or "woke". The Broadway and tour casts weren't all white either. In fact the plastics on tour were all played by women of color for a good chunk of it's run.

I saw the trailer for this before The Marvels and it actually has "World Burn" in the trailer. Why this trailer would go out of its way to make it seem like it's not the movie adaption of the musical is...well, it's definitely a choice.

@@gaila.9852 the trailer not only doesn't make it "very clear" that this is a musical, it doesn't really give any indication at all that it's a musical. it has a few musical numbers just like the original movie did (on stage talent show) and that's about it. so some of you folks need to just stop being so hyper aggressive about the fact that this trailer conveys "musical" because it doesn't. and by the way, it's IMPORTANT that this trailer convey that this is different and that it's a musical because the original movie wasn't that long ago and was a great movie. this otherwise just looks like lazy hollywood unable to come up with something new and therefore trying to paint a butterfly that doesn't need to be painted. i would argue that a trailer like this would really need to LEAN INTO the fact that it's a musical. on that, it fails.
