Most teachers knew I was a good student but I never considered telling my side of the story because I felt that all adults stuck together when it came to a child, I got the impression that any adult could say or do anything to a child and it was alright because they were grown.

@@cashysnake When you need to bring up grammar in an argument you lose the argument. Just saying. Someone's grammar had nothing to do with the argument, and it just shows you have no evidence to back up your statement. It does not make you look smart. Maybe that person is not from a country that speaks English as a first language. I bet if you went to their country you would not be able to speak fluently in their language. It is true thst teachers shouldn't treat kids differently without a very good reason. For an example, during a lunch break a type 1 diabetic might need to leave the class 3 minutes earlier than his/ her claasmates. That way they can go to a safe place (school nurses office, a bathroom, etc.) and check their blood sugar levels and take the necessary insulin before they have lunch.

When he requested to use the restroom and saw him shooting up I knew he was a diabetic. Then for her to say dia what ? Teachers are suppose to have understanding and compassion for their students.

I had this at school many many years ago. A maths teacher who hated children who couldn't understand arithmetic, and she used to pull me, or any other student out of their chairs ny their ears and march them to the blackboard like that screaming and yelling at us for our stupidity. The other children who COULD do maths were bullies too, and finally one day they punched me in the ribs SO hard I couldn't breathe snd ended up in hospital. There was an inquiry, and the teacher lost her licence, and was forbidden to teach in any school anywhere after that. I'm now 75 years of age,and at the time this happenr,,I was only 12 and in my 1st year at middle school. I still hate Maths to THIS day, and still have trust issues with certain types of teachers, even now. People like her, and that evil teacher in the video, should NEVER be allowed within a 10 Mile radius of any children. They're only fit to be road sweepers.

@@lizb853 I can relate to this story and your post because a similar situation happened to me in 1972 in my 1st year at the time was still known as Junior High School, and the subject was Science. Eventually she separated the "good" students from the "bad" into sections and those who were in the "good" section were personally taught by her while the "bad" students were relegated to textbooks. She passed all girls and failed all boys (yes, I was one of those that she failed (she must have had in for all of us boys) from Day 1 September, 1972 to June, 1973} for no very good reason no matter how hard we tried. Unfortunately no one throughout the year spoke up about this until our Principal caught wind of this as the school year was ending and finally, (to the best of my knowledge, she was transferred should have been fired and lost her teaching license, but her tenure and the union might have temporarily saved her, But hopefully not much longer after that.). Claiming at the beginning of the year, she had taught for 5 years, this appeared to be 5 years too many! Her tenure at the school (in that year, at least) practically destroyed any interest I might have had in Science! Besides, this appeared to be a somewhat YOUNG WOMAN teacher who was the culprit of this debacle!

Of course it is important to teach kids that there are certain situations and certain places when you need to be quiet and/ or do as you are told to do. But if the kid says she or he knows the answer to the question or that she or he already knows how to do XYZ, you should listen to them. I know from my own experience that it is a very unpleasant experience to anyone, when a teacher (or a boss) asks: "Why didn't you tell me that you already know how to do this thing?". Then you are like: "I tried to tell you, but you got angry and said: 'Shut up and do as you are told to do!'. That's why I didn't say anything.".

Teachers are suppose to help their students, lead and build a positive environment for their students to feel welcomed. When I was in middle and high school, I always had great teachers create a positive environment for me and my classmates. However when I was in elementary school, my teacher would be very mean, yell and berate me in front of my classmates and would treat me differently all when I didn't do anything wrong but make some mistakes. She would mock my emotions in front of everyone and predicted that I will never succeed. I felt so hurt and upset on why I had to be excluded than my classmates. Few years later, when I did not have her anymore, I got my best revenge on her by doing very well in school by excelling in class and phys Ed sports and made my teachers very happy for me. Thanks to my pain and fuel, it motivated myself to do well and I proved my mean teacher wrong that I am smart but just need practice to get better. Once my mean teacher saw me, she smiled and was proud to heard that I proved her wrong overtime before I left for college.

You're right, she didn't deserve to get fired. She deserved to get barred from teaching children for life. Sorry but her lack of knowledge of diabetes and overall ignorance was extremely concerning. What if that kid had a hypo or a hyperglycaemic episode? She wouldn't have known what to do and he probably would have become seriously ill or died. That is in addition to her disgusting attitude towards a kid who showed potential.
