AMEN! - We are His witness on earth. Our life is in His hands. He IS the way to everlasting life. Jesus sang with His disciples at the last supper! Matthew chap 26: verses 26-30. He spoke of his death and burial and resurrection in the offering of the bread and wine! Matthew 26: 26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. 30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. Saint Paul also shared a revelation God gave him of the last supper. 1 Cor.11: 23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not understood the Lord's body. Jesus knew the next 24 hours would be the worst He could suffer but Jesus is mighty to save and the only Lord God and Savior. So Lets give Him all the glory. Isaiah chap 7: verse 14; therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel (meaning: Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל, "God with us" in human flesh as a man as well but w / o sin) Isaiah chap 9: verse 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. John 14: 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you left myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going, how do we know the way? 6 Jesus saith without him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me BELIEVE: "The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." See: * below Romans 10: 17 Then, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. John 3: 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but has everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved "All have sinned, and have come short of the glory of God;" Romans chap 3: verse 23 "The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans chap 6: verse 23 "I am the way, the truth and the life: no one comes to the Father, but by me." (John 14.6) 1 Cor. 15: 3 "For I delivered denied you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: " "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;" Ephesians. 1: 7 "For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." Matthew chap 26: verse 28 Ephesians 2: 8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast." Romans 10: 9 If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, then you will be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth leaving righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made absent salvation. 13 For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Salvation, forgiveness of sins, is available to anyone who will trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Those who have rejected the free gift of salvation (see John 3: 16-17 above) according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ will suffer judgment on their sins and eternal separation from God and the Family of God on earth and in Heaven forevermore. "Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5: 1

From Ignatius of Antioch's letter to the Smyrnaens, Chapter 7, written around 107 AD on his way to being thrown to the Lions, (stay aloof from heretics like the above....): Chapter 7. Let us stand aloof from such heretics They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again. Those, therefore, who speak against this gift of God, incur death in the midst of their disputes. But it were better for them to treat it with respect, that they also might rise again. It is fitting, therefore, that you should keep aloof from such persons, and not to speak of them either in private or in public, but to give heed to the prophets, and above all, to the Gospel, in which the passion [of Christ] has been revealed to us, and the resurrection has been fully proved. But avoid all divisions, as the beginning of evils.

06:31 And if after my death any one should say: If Dr. Luther were living now, he would teach and hold this or that article differently, for he did not sufficiently consider it, against this I say now as I say then, and then as now, that, by Gods grace, I have most diligently, compared all these articles with the scriptures time and again ( have examined them, not once, but very often, according to the standard of Holy Scripture), and often have gone over them, and would defend them as confidently, as I have now defended the sacrament of the Altar. I’am not drunk nor thoughtless, I know what I say; I also am sensible to what it means for me at the coming of the Lord Christ at the final Judgement. Therefore I want no one to regard this as a jest or mere idle talk; it is a serious matter to me; for by Gods grace I know Satan a good deal; if he can pervert or confuse God’s word, what will he not do with my words or those of another? ...Solid Declaration of the Formula of Concord, Article VII, 29-31

Reformed??? So is that changed from the original biblical text?
@ItsMisterWilliams
@ItsMisterWilliams 5 жыл бұрын
We think reformed as...some sort of progressive word, right? If you think about...let's say a couch cushion. You sit in the same spot in a couch (YOU being the influential changing force in this) all day, everyday for a couple years, there is going to be an indentation in the cushion. What one might do at that point is fluff it up, or re-shape it, or...reFORM it to it's original state. The condition of which it was intended to be. I believe that's what we're talking about with always reforming. Not changing from it's original condition to something odd and different, but rather re-shaping our theology to match that which it was before the influence of one's butt.

And why not have chips and Pepsi? In the place where I live we don't eat bread or drink wine. So I could eat rice and lime juice. The idea is not what you ate or drank (?what discipline is the speaker alluding to). The idea is "do you remember the body that was torn up and blood that was shed for your redemption". The idea is when you touch that solid stuff or that liquid stuff, are you remembering His love? So when I partake of the "Lord's Supper" (I hope the speaker doesn't establish a discipline of partaking this only at night!), even though I have come with so many needs, I am left dumbstruck at the thought of what happened at Calvary, I don't even ask God my needs. What can you ask someone that is bigger than His own Son? We shut up, get up with more love, more faith in the surety of redemption and go ahead to live a life of this Savior. That's the idea of the Lord's supper. You could have it on your dining table for all it matters. But do you remember Him and His sacrifice? Do you remember the Father and His love? Only the truly saved will understand this.

I would encourage you first to have a deeper understanding of the symbolism that bread and wine has to the richness of the old testament like the passover, 40 years in the desert, sacrifices at the alter, etc as a start for understanding why wine and bread are preferred unless impossible to obtain. Hope that helps :)

@@T.Ravikumar Awe I can see the hesitation on your part to not want to over emphasize the old covenant, but also am concerned because when I read and think through the old testament it is constantly pointing me and pushing me towards Christ and his work, dispensational theology today has really messed that up for the main stream church . Please think through why Jesus purposely used wine and bread and the purpose behind that. We can only make sense of the work of Christ and the new testament when we deeply understand the old testament :)

@@T.Ravikumar Again using wine and bread and their symbolism should bring us to remembrance of all of Jesus's work in the Old Testament, the shadows shown and all that Jesus fulfilled with respect was laid out in the Old Testament prophecy/law. I remember all the rich meaning and all the events that lead up to and gave meaning to the ultimate point of Jesus death and resurrection. Using bread and wine when understanding their implications helps amplify the gloriousness of what is occurring on the cross. Again I want to make sure you hearing this, the old testament is the foundation that is needed in order for the new testament to have meaning :)

@@trentenmeyer4513 The old testament is not relevant if you are considering it as a redemptive tool to reconcile with God. The OT laws/commands failed in its efforts at redeeming the Jews. Today we (all those who have realised the value of the blood of Christ & accepted the mercy offered by grace at Calvary) do not follow the 10 commandments or the the other old covenant statutes because "we have to do it" to achieve redemption. But we do attempt to try and fulfil (the already fulfilled by Christ) old covenant statutes because we have realised our redemption through our Redeemer. Today I read the OT and learn what my God expected and I try to follow them because "I love to please Him". I try and follow His commands because I love Him (for his Blood bought Salvation). Saved people are not bound to the law. They are free in Christ. They'll be judged at heaven's gates only by the grace through Christ's blood. Keeping laws is just an evidence of a completely redeemed experience. We need to talk about our Redeemer. Learn about our Redeemer. That'll help the Holy Spirit in us to bring to remembrance all that He taught and help us to live a life of "loving our Savior". 🍁 Law (the old covenant) keeping is a love response to the born-again believer.

So do reformed baptist beleive in the real presence of Christ at the Lords supper like the reformed pesbyterians? Also wouldn't it be wise to read 1st Corinthians 11:27 to the body of Christ in attendance before partaking in the Lords supper? 27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died. 31 But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world. Appreciate all the uploads guys 👍✝️

It's important to distinguish between the spiritual presence of Christ in the supper, (which presbyterians and reformed baptist often hold to), and what Lutherans believe which is the bodily presence of Jesus. It is a Cristilogical issue, because Luther believed that Jesus human flesh could be omnipresent, while Calvin was very dogmatic that Christs flesh could only be in one place (and that place is at the right hand of the Father). Calvin concluded, therefore, that Christ could only be present spiritually, and that His flesh could not be present in the bread.

Too bad Dr. White puts such effort in teaching the teaching of men rather than the teachings of our Savior. Right off the bat, he is being disingenuous. He starts off by attacking the original Christian doctrine of the Eucharist (Greek for "Thanksgiving") that the Catholic Church teaches. He neglects to tell the audience that the teaching of the Eucharist of the Catholic Church is the exact same teaching of the Orthodox Church, the Coptic Church, The Ethiopian Church and the Orthodox Church of the East. The Christian teaching is that it is truly the Body and Blood of Christ. IT IS IN THE BIBLE!!!!!! In other words, Dr. White is hiding a good part of the truth from his audience. The Catholic Church and these other sister churches have maintained the original teachings from the Apostles. The times I have listened to Dr. White, I am amazed on how he wiggles and dodges around plain historical facts. I understand that he is a Calvinist. I can't imagine a teaching that is more at odds of the true teachings of Jesus and the Apostles. Yet we are told that somehow Mr. Calvin came up with a strange and unique teaching that no one for 1,500 years had even thought of and we are now supposed to believe it. No, I don't think so.
