lol this is actually sort of true. When I was a baby, some mutt and his anti vax Karen mother got to me before I was old enough to get the jab and I caught measles. My mom said I almost died and was really sort of delicate for a few years into toddlerhood. It’s hard to say if I’d have been that delicate if I hadn’t caught goddamned measles, but my pediatrician said it probably didn’t help. And I was always really small and thin for my age my whole life. It’s a serious illness for babies to get. Fighting an active virus is way harder than your body being given literally a research sample of some inactive genetic material and going “ok good to know. We’ll add this to the barred list.” It’s not 1920. Measles is fucked. Don’t do the EXACT SAME THING as the vaccine the hard way.

My mom is from the rural parts of a third world country. She tells me that immunization clinics were only in town once a year, and people would line up for blocks for a chance to get vaccinated. If the clinic ran out of supplies, tough luck, you weren’t getting vaccinated and had to wait a full year for another chance. Well, one year, there was an insane measles outbreak in her village. She and my uncle had been lucky enough to get vaccinated. Their cousin wasn’t so lucky. My mom, my uncle, and their cousin ALL got the measles. But my mom and uncle had a moderate red rash and a dry cough. Their cousin’s rash was so bad, she says it turned black (she tells me the worst infections turn black. Not sure exactly what she means but apparently it’s a well-known thing where she’s from), and he got pneumonia. My mom and my uncle both survived. Their cousin died from his measles infection. He was just a baby. Vaccines save lives. The Anti-vax mindset is a first-world privilege.
@teslaromans10233 жыл бұрын
On a side note for anyone who’d wonder, the reason they still got measles (albeit with weaker symptoms), is because vaccines aren’t as good as the real thing, so you need two or more shots at certain intervals to get the most ones from your immune system. For measles, you need the second shot a few months after the first. But by the looks of it, their mother only got one shot, and so her immunity wasn’t complete.
@DontEatYellowNothingness3 жыл бұрын
@@teslaromans1023 That sounds about right, definitely. Thank you for that information!
@Tjalve702 жыл бұрын
@@teslaromans1023 When I was a kid, only one dose of measles vaccine were given to kids. But about 15 or so years later, it was decided to give a second dose after 10 years. Which means I never got my second dose. When I found out about that, a few years ago, I decided to get a second dose of the vaccine, just in case. So it might be that @Ben's mom got vaccinated back in the day when one dose was considered to be sufficient. Or it might be that the country was too poor to be able to afford two doses for everyone, and so focused on giving one dose to as many as possible. Which of course is a good strategy.
@richardthomas53622 жыл бұрын
Actually, I understand the anti-vax mindset. It makes sense IF you compare the benefits of actually getting a disease, and the risk thereof, compared to the risk of the vaccine. In the case of measles do you want a 1 in 100,000 chance (or something) of getting a bad reaction, or do you want to risk getting sick from an infection which might weaken your immune system forever? Do you want to risk a small chance of bad effects from another vaccine, or do you want an iron lung and paralysis from Polio for the rest of your life? Do you want to risk an adverse effect from the Covid vaccine, or do you want to risk feeling a little out of it for 3 days, then get back to normal, like I did? It just comes down to a cost/benefit analysis.

If a child contracts measles, even if the experience isn’t too bad, they can develop a really serious condition called SSPE (Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis) which is basically the long-term swelling of the brain. For example, a woman had a not too serious case of the measles when she was a child, got on with life pretty well and was on a path to success; at 24 she began to notice problems with her cognition - vision impairments, jittery movements, memory loss and depression. Turns out she had developed SSPE. The outlook for SSPE is pretty grim, and it is a 100% fatal. It’s a chronic illness which is that kind of has similar effects to dementia, and people who are diagnosed usually always die 1-3 years after they are diagnosed. Basically what I am saying is, get your fucking kids vaccinated. The risks of the measles outweighs the risks of an allergic reaction which can be treated and cured in hospital - SSPE cannot be reversed, cannot be cured and it is a very hard condition to slow progression. It devastates lives and families.

Most so called debates are kinda wonky if they show "equality" in arguments. As ether you will show that is science vs superstitions and miss information. Or you will get in one room one, let say, immunologist and one anti-vacciner. Then summary will say that there is no clary it topic cause guests could not get on some middle ground and will only help to spread miss information as both guests arguments will be shown as equal. Anti-vaccine movement is more like religion. It doesn't matter what so many studies in topic say cause "they" are "hiding truth". It's same as with flat-earthers, hoax moon landing, chemtrails, reptilians, illuminati... First step is believing that there is some "higher power/influential group" that takes over world and you are chosen one to know "the Truth".

Felippe I've been wondering about this for quite a while now, how is it possible for someone who isn't vaccinated to make other people ill? @alextownsend45656 жыл бұрын
No there are no good arguments against vaccines. The whole "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" thing is not always true. And with powerful viruses this is often not the case. Vaccines present weakened viruses which give your body a fair fighting chance.

People that are immunosuppresed are vulnerable to any disease and the moment they catch one they’re done, theit immune system can’t fight it back properly. No, we’re not saying that unvaccinated people carry the diseases, but by vaccinating an entire population we can eradicate the diseases without any risk of spreading it. People not vaccinating just makes it harder to eradicate the diseases. I don’t care if it’s a movement or not, neither do I care for your reasons to defend your point. MY point is you’re not taking the people who have health complications seriously, just to defend your point. Your comment sounded selfish and ignorant as hell to me. As someone who has had measles I can say that it is extremely unpleasant and you should vaccinate no matter what, except if you are allergic of course. I had a very very bad rash everywhere on my body including inside my mouth and ears, and it leaves scars for life, when I got sick I infected my sister as we lived together at the the time and she still has a big mark on her forehead. Avoiding vaccination is very stupid, reckless and careless. But after all god gave everyone a head on their shoulders so use it and do what you want, but don't forget you and your loved ones are the ones dealing with the consequences.

John Taylor I don't discount your method of inoculation, but the vaccines have been reviewed by countless accredited health and humanitarian agencies around the world and are NOT dangerous if they are administered correctly. The vaccines are far less dangerous than the method you described because they use an inactive form of the virus, one that does not replicate and cause extensive and potential bodily harm. Dangerous preservatives be damned: the amount of mercury expounded by the thermisol preservative compound is a microscopic fraction from the amount of mercury that leeches into our bodies from common everyday electronics and apparatuses.

Knowing how and why the measles vaccine works and should be taken will most likely not be useful towards you career path and it does not build any kind of problem solving skills for a typical work environment, so why would school teach it to you? Sure, it's very interesting but if you ever came to a point where you needed to know this stuff you could just look it up. The point of school nowadays is no longer fact memorization or knowledge, because you can learn that on the fly, it's only to give you an average understanding of topics like science , history and literature, and to build problem solving skills/ general critical thinking skills that almost every career will utilize. More videos like this!!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I honestly think some people think getting measles is like getting a bad cold or the flu with some kind of annoying little rash. They need to know exactly what’s going on in the body while it fights off the illness and what the chances of survival are. People on both sides of the issue can learn something. For instance: I didn’t know that it takes weeks or even months to recover fully from the measles 👍🏽

Many so called "experts" have dismissed the autism vaccine connection but Helen Ratajczak has masterfully reviewed the entire body of scientific literature related to theories about how vaccines and autism may be connected. It's time for the CDC to take a genuine look at the data, as opposed to brushing it off to the realm of conspiracy theories and unsubstantiated urban legends. Autism has become a medical disaster of monumental proportions, morphing from a rare disease three decades ago into a modern day epidemic. Rates have exploded from 4 in10,000 children in the 1940s to somewhere between 1 in 50 and 1 in 110 children now, depending on what source of statistics you use. In this literature review, Ratajczak reports approximately one child per 100 (1 percent) in the U.S. currently has an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and one child per 64 has some form of autism in the United Kingdom.
@dwightschrute96935 жыл бұрын
Gary Faulkner The only thing I’m going to argue against is the “autism was rare 3 decades ago.” A lot of diseases and disorders are more commonly diagnosed now because we have learned a lot in medicine, the amount of diagnoses may have gone up but not necessarily the amount of people having it. Not to mention having a disease/disorder was frowned upon by society so no one would seek help and tried their best to hide it.

+Nidhal25 (CILVER_BEATS) You need to get a copy of "The Mystery of Our Declining Genes". We have only been around several thousand years, and only will be maybe another several thousand, because genetic entropy is tearing down the human genome. There are a thousand recognized genetic diseases now and more being found every day. These are only the errors which have a noticeable expression so far. Many more are hidden. Every generation adds by conservative estimates 50 to 100 more errors per germ cell. We originated with a genome much more perfect and error-free, not that long ago. It was written in the beginning and did not evolve, and certainly not over millions of years, even one million year, or even 50,000 years. Do you know how many 'lines of code' , i.e. sequences of genetic information, had to be written to produce the first human? Hooray whoever wrote that code! It didn't happen by random chance anymore than your computer assembled itself by random chance or the coding in the operating system or internet software wrote itself by chance. It took intelligence and a lot of it. By the way, DNA is only the storage molecule for genomic information. The information is immaterial, intangible, weighs nothing; how did it arise? Inside a human body's cell, there are multiple operating systems and computers, at a molecular level, operating. The presentation, "The Programming of Life" is highly recommended, as is "From Chemicals to Living Cell". One of the reasons doctors think we need vaccines is the assumption we our bodies are just a bag of evolved chemicals rather than carefully designed wonders. Pharmaceutical greed has hundreds more in the pipeline, and adults are the target now for mandatory vaccines, in addition to children. They have kids up to 56 vaccine doses by age 72 months! The 180 degrees opposite view is that we were designed by God and our immune system is designed by God, and God created a plant for just about every human ailment. Doctors don't prescribe plants, or very many plant-derived treatments. Congress and the FDA have made them illegal as treatments.

+commnter10 Are you trying to imply that we came to exist because a magic man in the sky thought it would be fun to have some toys to play with?
@commnter109 жыл бұрын
You're ignorant of the arguments for God. Specifically, you should read "Without Excuse" by Werner Gitt, or his previous work, "In the Beginning Was Information". You magic man in the sky notion probably came from Toy Story, when you were a child, and was reinforced with the evolution conjecture presented as fact at the same time and ever since, with government school being the main reinforce. They don't teach what Gitt does in his work. It would take an army of lawyers, and more likely an army of soldiers, too, before what creation scientists teach would ever make it into public school curriculum.
