It was OK - Sandy Grierson just acted everyone else off the stage as usual. Having seen As You Like It with the same ensemble cast recently, in which I thought Lucy Phelps was excellent as Rosalind, I was expecting great things here too, but the Angelo/Isabella proposition scene had us in floods of giggles. I don't know whether Lucy was told to ham it up with all the gurning, but it was not good. The actors playing Escalus, Lucio and Elbow were brilliant, and Barnadine raised quite a few laughs too. Overall, for us - ***

The way he said "hashtag Me Too" felt so uncomfortable, because it seemed he was just tripping it off his tongue as the "in thing" at the moment. If the Royal Shakespeare Company was serious about presenting "Measure for Measure" as prominent for today, then may I ask why on earth was not the obvious decision made that a woman would therefore direct it? Please don't claim as an institution you are listening to the times when the usual owning of the story is by yet another white male established director. It doesn't take brain science to work this one out, let alone a more sensitive awareness of what issue may be in the public conversation at the moment. "We see it on the news, but business as usual" is not the job of The Royal Shakespeare Company.

Not a word of that's true, though, is it? Dear me- if you were any more oppressed I'd feel sorry for you.
